Sometimes one star reviews are from people with "crazy" situations. This is not one of those. Summary: this firm missed the filing deadlines on one of my companies and for my personal return. When confronted they took no responsibility. Zero. Things happen, people make mistakes. I'm reasonable. What is not reasonable is to simply gaslight a customer who has already paid for a service that was not delivered. This firm showed that when they drop the ball they will find anyone but themselves to blame. Here is what happened to me as a cautionary tale. - They filed extensions for me and all was fine. - 39 days before the extension deadline I provided everything I had to file the returns. (Their promise is to file on time if they have everything 30 days before the deadline). - 19 days before the deadline I get my first batch of questions. I answer all of them the next day (18 days left). - Then nothing for 18 days. Zero additional questions. Zero comments. Absolute silence. I leave on vacation expecting work to progress on my returns. - Day of the deadline, 10/17, I message 'what is happening with my returns' around 7:00 am. - 2:02 pm, deadline day, I get a list of 12 questions. Some of them requiring much more research than a couple of hours can resolve. All of these are for my business, not one for my personal return. (The personal return CAN be filed without the business. They are CPA's. They know this). - 3:05 pm, I answer 10 of the 12 questions, stating the other two are not able to be answered quickly. The rest of the day I hear NOTHING. Literally not a single message, comment, update, acknowledgement, solution, or idea. Complete silence. They ended up not filing my personal or business return, thus creating a late filing issue for me. In the days that follow 100% of their responses are gaslighting, denial, blame shifting, and moving the goal posts. Samples:- "We have no failings to take accountability for. " "We began requesting items in May." (That's true, but you had everything 39 days prior to filing and didn't ask one question about the business return until THE DAY THE RETURN WAS DUE. This also fails to address why the personal return, for which all questions were answered with 18 days to spare, was not filed.) ConclusionI could be delusional. I could be crazy. I paid thousands of dollars to this firm to file my taxes. They did not do that on time. They had time to do it but did not take steps needed until 2:00 pm the day returns are due! Am I the crazy one? When held to task they took zero responsibility for anything. Simply put High Rock is an accounting firm that is not accountable to their customers.
A more personable, professional, innovative, and effective team of accounts and financial advisors you will NOT find. I trust them implicitly with my business and that of my friends and family and I recommend them to everyone!
High Rock is the best partner to have by your side. We use them for monthly bookkeeping, controller and taxes. They know what they are doing, are always implementing better systems and are awesome.
