4825 E Euclid Ave #3, Phoenix“I had the privilege of being one of Michael Daniel's bass guitar students for a little over 2 years. Being an older adult student, I had very specific things I wanted to learn and wasn't interested in another instructor who just wanted to teach me a song so that he could jam with me.
I was a self-taught bass player who, after a number of years of self-taught learning, plateaued out of what I could play and do on the bass and needed more structure and foundation. I learned this the hard way in a jam session with two very experienced guitar players. I tried my best to keep up, throw down a bass line, and drive a song, but they just kept playing music that greatly exceeded my abilities. I did my best, but it was very frustrating, and it pushed me do something about it if I was going to excel and maybe someday play on stage.
Michael was exactly what I needed. My interview with him went as I'd hoped. He has a nice studio to work in with a lot of equipment for anything you would be looking for on Bass or Guitar training, as well as vocal training too. Great setup.
On day one, I had a curriculum that was wonderful. Complete with foundation, hand exercises, fundamentals, songs that we'd be playing to enhance my learning, lists of equipment that he recommended for all levels of learning.
For me, establishing a solid foundation in music knowledge, technique, and consistency through my practice was essential. I wanted to play with more confidence and be able to keep up with other, more experienced musicians, and maybe play on stage playing the 80's music I love.
Fast forward two and a half years, and I'm playing in a band with 4 other older musicians, rockin' out in an 80's/early 90's band and loving every minute of it.
The songs we play are not always easy, but the foundation, learning the good technique Michael taught me, is always at the back of my mind when I break down a song and play it.
Michael has a great program, a solid foundation of learning, and hand exercises to build strength and flexibility. (Exercises I still do every day). Once he knows where you want to go with your training, the type of music you're interested in, He'll create your program to give you a full learning package.
As he will tell you, though, he can't do it all. You've got to be practicing a little every day to make the strides to move through his course. He'll know quickly when you've not done your practice from the previous week. (trust me on this) He'll hold your feet to the fire and give you the feedback you need if you're not pulling your weight. It's everything I wanted in an instructor. It pushed me and really made me work hard. Exactly what I was after!
I'm not working with Michael at the moment. Very busy with work and my band. I am hoping at some point to get back into his studio and pick up where I left off in my program and advance my playing to the next level. I already see areas of my playing that are pushing or exceeding my current limits that I need to overcome. What I love about music, there is always something new to learn!!
I highly recommend Michael for any level of training you're interested in. He's well-rounded, very knowledgeable & experienced about all aspects of music. Playing, recording, vocals, writing. You'll walk away with some great musical knowledge & tools to take you to whatever level of playing you desire. Rock on!!“

“Lowell Hunt totally transformed my EL84 Carr Lincoln amp. Now it really sounds like a Vox on both channels (the OD channel was the problem) and just sings at reasonable volume up to gig volume. Highly recommend!“
