If you want to be treated as a number not a human go here. Started with playing phone tag with them for a week to get an appointment. Then when you arrive they have these machines that you have to check yourself in. No personal service. See the doctor told I needed labs. They don't have a lab onsite to draw blood. The lady that check me out after my appointment was rude. So no I do not recommend them.
Please everyone on this thread I need you to contact me ASAP. Mario Javier Pineda, a provider, I refuse to put Dr. in front of his name, at Ironwood Cancer Center called the police on me yesterday. I in turn called the police on him because he was very aggressive, rude, condescending and many other adjectives. He accused me of hearsay that he heard from his lying MA, Itzel. As a new patient, diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks ago, I was scheduled a week after I was diagnosed with Ironwood Cancer Center. Because I asked the front desk person if it was normal to wait a week to see a patient after a cancer diagnoses, I was aggressively spoken to by Itzel, who asked me if anyone told me I was going to die? She followed up with aggressively telling me that I should have not been asking her staff about appointments and saying that I was rude and disruptive for doing so. She was the rudest medical personnel I have ever encountered in my lifetime. Shocked by her response, through tears I said this is why patients, especially Black women are afraid to ask questions because we fear we will be accused of being aggressive. 45 minutes later, when Pineda entered the room, he did not introduce himself. He rudely said to me, "Do you want to call somebody to listen in on this consultation?" I said no, and he responded "OK, fine I don't have time to be speaking to someone about your situation after this consultation!" He immediately started speaking about doing surgery. He did not do an exam. I listened quietly and then suddenly he looks up at me and say, "Is there something wrong, ma'am? I said no but he kept pushing the issue that I was being quiet. So, I said I have been treated rudely so I am not in a good mood right now but I'm fine. That was his segued into launching his attack on me. He said Itzel told him that I called them racists. I attempted to explain what really happened and the fact that I said ALL patients are afraid to ask questions, he became very hostile. I told him to give me my paperwork so I could leave. As I'm leaving Pineda follows me to the lobby yelling leave. He got so threating close in my face I could smell his breath. I asked him to move out my face and he yells, "You want me to push the elevator button for you!" I told him no, just move. And that's when he grabbed the receptionist phone and called the police and lied saying I refused to leave the office. Another patient who was there to pick up her MRI results filmed the situation and stayed as a witness to tell the police she had been treated very aggressively rude by Pineda only a week earlier and would never come back to Ironwood again. I get chills when I think about what his intentions might have been if he had performed surgery on me. Apparently, he was harboring animosity towards me all while he was discussing when and how the surgery was to be done. Here I am this morning going through Google to find an oncologist when I find shocking complaints against Ironwood Cancer Center. Just as restaurants are graded and the reviews are released to the public, so should Cancer Centers be reported for being ill equipped to appoint and treat cancer patients. If I had known of these reviews prior to going to this horrible place that has hostile, aggressive doctors and medical staff I could have saved my time and avoided the added anxiety and fear of dealing with cancer. I am a lymphoma survivor, and this summer I experienced significant swelling in my cheek area overnight. My primary care physician urgently ordered an ultrasound, and my oncologist at Ironwood indicated that we would "aggressively monitor" the situation. However, no further action was taken. A few months later, my dentist discovered a mass while examining my jaw for TMJ. I immediately reported this to my oncologist in Gilbert, AZ. She expressed concerns that insurance might not cover a PET scan because my bloodwork appeared normal. She also mentioned that TMJ specialists are "dentists, not MDs." After advocating for myself, the PET scan was approved by my insurance and revealed that I have cancer. It would have been beneficial to have this information three months earlier when we were supposed to be monitoring my condition. Following this, I was directed to a local surgery center, but the proposed surgery would have left me with a functional disability. Seeking a second opinion from a reputable facility, I learned that I will not need surgery but will undergo radiation and chemotherapy instead. I strongly advise staying away from Ironwood. If you find yourself there, please seek a second opinion.
