Is this the type of business you wish to support…here is my story. I have been a loyal customer of Skyland East Storage for many years. Every month they took my payment for years. Unfortunately my payment credit card expired unbeknownst to me, and was unaware of the payment being declined. I had received an email every month for years informing me my payment had gone through, but one day the email said payment due...that was right after the card declined. Now it was my fault for assuming the email continued to let me know my payment went through..but that’s only a part of the story. Another fault I carried was years ago I didn’t update my address after moving. Back to the story, after my payment declined the charges began to accrue. Every 10 days a 15 dollar charge accrued. Instead of simply making a phone call as would be considered good customer service they sent a single email, and they sent a certified letter which was promptly returned as the address was wrong. No other attempt to contact me was made. Today I decided to visit my storage building and there was a second red lock preventing me from accessing my unit. I called the number on the unit and Mr Bruce Taylor picked up the phone. The owner of multiple businesses and the owner of the storage unit. He instructed me to visit the Taylor electrical office to determine the problem with the payment which is why they applied the second lock on the building. The “receptionist” informed me that payment had been delinquent and I needed to update my card. The bill was 205 dollars, which for 2 months late seemed steep. I asked why I was not notified and she indicated that she was too busy to use the phone to contact me and instead took time to use snail mail with a certified letter. She insisted that she was too busy to notify me by phone as she had over 600 customers. But, she took time to send certified mail…ask yourself why would some one who was too busy to make a simple phone call take the time to send a certified letter instead.. well she asked if I wanted to speak with Bruce about this matter and of course we did. Bruce came up with an attitude and I myself said I wasn’t happy with the customer service. He instructed me that I signed an agreement when I rented the building that said I agreed to the way they do business. Whether I did or I didn’t I’m not sure. I am certain it was likely in the fine print, but to me, a reasonable hard working customer, it would seem like if a customer was loyal with payments for many years, simply picking up the phone would be reasonable. So back to my question, why would the receptionist/secretary take the time to send a certified check vs simply calling the customer to tell them the payment was decline? Turns out, Bruce Taylor let us know why. Turns out on 16 days, or 3 months of delinquency, he would have taken ownership of my contents. So by him limiting his efforts to contact customers, he can legally take his customers belongings. Anyone else have any reasonable ideas for why the receptionists would try to convince me that making a phone call would take more valuable time out of her day than creating, stamping, and sending a single certified letter? The story doesn’t end, when Bruce Taylor abrasively informed me and my wife that we shouldn’t have signed the paper I called him a crook. I did so because I see was a clear attempt to take the belongings of my building once payment was delinquent. He immediately got angry got in my face blocking me from leaving his office. He told me I would not call him a crook, but once I called the police he let me leave following me out the door. He continued to get in my face as I was attempting leave and telling me to get off his property. I told him I would be emptying my storage building today. He continued to rant over my insult of calling him a crook in which I responded if you didn’t act like one you wouldn’t be called one. He continues to get in my face and my wife’s face ranting over the insult. Alas I was able to leave and I immediately returned and emptied my unit. But when we were p
