The Alaska Club West in Anchorage provides a spacious and motivating health club experience with a variety of group fitness classes such as yoga, group cycle, Insanity®, ZUMBA®, and more. The club features energetic and prepared instructors, including Xochitl, who leads fantastic yoga classes with a fun, dry sense of humor. Personal trainers offer thoughtful workouts tailored to individual abilities, promoting a healthy body and mind. Members can access the fitness gymnasiums, functional training area, cardio equipment, basketball court, and weight rooms at any time with a gold membership or above. The club has been a friendly and upbeat environment for 13 years, with great instructors for classes like yoga and Pilates. The front staff are noted for their friendliness, and while the membership costs more, it includes the added benefit of enjoying the various classes offered. The gym is always clean, and the locker rooms, particularly the men's, are consistently well-maintained with fresh towels available. Open 24 hours, the club is convenient for those who work late. Some areas of the club may not be accessible outside of staffed hours of operation.
I think I’m being very kind and patient when I say it’s been interesting taking 3 yoga classes a week plus Pilates in the fitness room at West . Several times I’ve blocked off the door from fumes creeping under the woman’s side. It is especially tricky in shavasana trying to relax 😳
But…… with the freezing temps and no snow , it remains one of my only escapes.
Alli, she is the BEST, not only teaching the class, but as a person, she take the time to get to know you and cares for you. I been coming to the gy for the past 20 years on and off and never no one has invited me or take the time to explain what a class was, she reach out to me when I was leaving and start talking and that God to that I been coming to the class for almost two months!! 💜
A very nice gym with great equipment. The people and staff are always friendly from my experiences. Always clean and locker room is great along with the other amenities. Open 24 hours is also very convenient for someone like me who works late. Basketball court is also nice.
