I visited Dr. Shabazz for a laser hair removal consultation. Prior to the visit, I called and asked for the pricing for chin and lip hair removal, but was told that I HAD to come in for her to see the areas, so I did. I spent approximately 15 minutes in her office...and that's an exaggeration. I subsequently (6 months later) I received a bill for $100.38!! Mind you, the total was $225, but my insurance covered $94.00, which I plan to call to see what service they "thought" I was paying for, since the receptionist had no record of what I was being billed for, just said, "well, you came in for a appointment and every appointment costs." Dr. Shabazz understands skin beyond texture and surface possible flares. She genuinely cares about the root of skin problems and takes her time getting to a solution. She doesn't just shoot fire and pray for the best with trial and error. She works with your skin to find the root cause and treat it not soothe symptoms. I will continue to work with her for my time here in the DMV.
Dr. Shabazz has a wonderful disposition and is very gentle. I like her spirit and she's kind. Now for my concerns: 1) as a new patient I believe all fees should be disclosed *prior* to treatment. I scheduled a visit for Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) removal (little moles on my face and one on my inner thigh). During my consultation I mentioned the area of concern was mostly my face and she asked if I had any other areas or unusual markings I was concerned about. I explained that I had one raised mole on my inner thigh. She said that was also a skin tag and that I she could grab a pair of tiny scissors and snip it right then and there or grab the laser.
