Pentagon MMA's instructors truly stand out, especially Katrina Combs, an amazing Muay Thai coach with two title belts under her belt, and Isaac July Jr., a talented Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor who's undefeated at the Copa Nova Grappling Tournament with eight wins and six submissions. They're joined by an exceptional team, including Sa'idah Durkee, a decorated grappler with impressive wins such as gold medals at the IBJJF Pan No-Gi and US Grappling events, Evan Jacobovitz, and Becca Hurd, who all contribute to the gym's dedication to excellence and student success. This gym is the real deal. Each coach is a heavily tenured fighter, the community is close knit and there is a place for all skill levels to grow. They’ve fostered my initial foray into Muay Thai into a love and enjoyment for the sport that I would not have found otherwise. I will definitely continue to train here as long as I can.
I was working in Washington for the month of January and inquired about classes at Pentagon MMA. The people I spoke to over the phone were very helpful and welcoming.
The first class I went to was an fundamentals class on Wednesday evening. The staff was again so welcoming. I asked a drop in fee and the woman simply said I put you down as a visiting student and didn't charge me anything.
The Professor for my experience was Evan, and the next training session Manny assisted.
These Professors were very organized and technical with their instruction.
