We are Brazilian. I speak a little English, and my mother doesnβt speak it at all. We came to know Calista Salon & Spa through my cancer treatment, as it is a recommended location partnered with the wig provider.
Our first impression was that it was a sophisticated environment. There was an elegant American woman there doing her nails, and we used her as a reference when I was choosing my wig style. I noticed that every time I said what I wanted, the stylist would say it didnβt suit me. Since the wig was free, I let her choose what she wanted, and I accepted it without complaints.
Later, my mother wanted to change her hair and also used that same elegant client as her inspiration. We believed the professionals at this salon were qualified to meet client expectations. So I brought my mother for highlights, and I clearly explained β both in writing and in person β that she wanted to blend her roots and fix uneven patches from past colorings. The stylist said she understood and could do it.
But when I came to pick my mother up, only the front of her hair had been touched β a few golden strands like a frame β and the rest of her hair was left completely untouched. My mother was very disappointed, and so was I.
I humbly asked the stylist if she could improve the result, and due to her arrogance, I just paid and left. I came back to ask for the managerβs name, and the receptionist accused me of not paying, which was extremely upsetting β especially as I was on my way to a hospital appointment. I left a message asking for manager Jessica to contact me urgently, but we havenβt received any response.
Unfortunately, we felt disrespected. It seems the stylist did what she wanted, not what the client requested. Itβs very frustrating when a clientβs wishes are ignored β especially when thereβs no willingness to fix the mistake.
We expected professionalism and care. We left disappointed. I do not recommend this experience.
I also told my hospital team what happened regarding the wig. I said I accepted what they gave me because it was free, but I was informed that the salon is actually paid by the organization. They advised me to contact John, the person in charge of the nonprofit, and explain what happened.
Today I tried to pick up my wig, and although I was physically at the salon, the staff refused to help me and said I needed an appointment. That shows a complete lack of empathy and respect. The overall feeling we are left with is one of disregard and extortion.

Jason Roberts is a fantastic stylist. He always has the right balance of the different highlights I want. Also the salon is so clean and professional and the front desk staff are so friendly.

I adored Kim and the entire salon staff. I felt very much at home while getting a wonderful mani/pedi. Kim did an amazing job on my nails. She really listened to me and helped guide me to the specific colors that I was looking for. I will definitely rebook services with Kim!
