Quite a few years back I joined this location but left due to moving away from here.Came back to check it out & had Kevin giving us a tour of the place. Came back at night for a swim and it was enjoyable!

I have been a member here for over 18 years. I read some of the past reviews and I cannot say I disagree with many of the negative comments. However, there is a wonderful person named Missy who has changed the culture of the whole gym. Managers have come and gone in my time at the gym but none has made the impact that Missy has. She knows most of the members by name and always has a friendly greeting and comment when they come in. Missy is very knowledgeable about the gym and I have personally seen her handle difficult clients with politeness and firmness. I hope that on some level the corporate decision-makers read these reviews, as it is because of Missy that members do not complain more about the condition of the gym, specifically about issues she has no control over. I hope that they recognize her value and act accordingly. Lastly, I have not seen anyone sleeping at the front desk for a while and I know she would not tolerate that!

First time at this location and I understand this isn’t the newest facility but jt is filthy. Floors and machines are covered with grime and hair. Staff at the front desk was nice though (hence the extra star). Hopefully they do something about the cleanliness.

Disgusting gym. Equipment is broken for months at a time. As I’m writing this two pieces of equipment haven’t been repaired yet. Half the plates are damaged (missing a lot of the rubber around them). Toilet bowl cleaning brush was left on the sink vanity in the men’s bathroom. Dumbbells give off a strong foul odor (hint: that’s bacteria) because equipment is probably cleaned. This gym takes member fees but puts nothing back into improving the equipment in here. It’s embarrassing when planet fitness has better/updated equipment.

I switched to this gym from Planet Fitness primarily because I wanted access to free weights and barbells, which PF doesn’t offer. While this gym does meet that basic requirement, the overall experience has been disappointing—especially considering it costs significantly more.
The biggest issue is cleanliness. The facility is not well-maintained—there’s visible dust on equipment and buildup in the carpets, and it clearly needs a thorough, regular deep cleaning and vacuuming.
The equipment itself is another concern. Most of it feels outdated and poorly maintained. Adjustments like pinning/unpinning weights are unnecessarily difficult because the mechanisms are stiff and seem to lack proper maintenance and lubrication. It shouldn’t require excessive force to use basic equipment.
What’s more frustrating is the lack of timely repairs. Several machines have been marked “under maintenance” for over two months now, with no visible progress. That’s a long time for members to be paying full price while equipment remains unusable.
Hygiene is also not taken seriously. Disinfectant wipes are frequently unavailable—the containers are often empty, and when asked, the front desk has mentioned they don’t have stock to refill them. That’s unacceptable for a gym environment.
I expected higher standards of hygiene and equipment uptime for the price charged and hope to see these issues addressed promptly.

LA Fitness has a lot going for it—the staff are friendly, helpful, and you can tell they care about the members. That kind of environment makes a big difference, especially when you’re trying to stay consistent.
That said, there are a few things that really need attention. Some of the equipment has been out of order for longer than it should be, and when machines stay down, it disrupts everyone’s workout. On top of that, certain areas could use more consistent cleaning and upkeep.
It’s a gym with strong potential because the people are great—but keeping the equipment maintained and the facility clean would take the experience to the next level.
