I was fortunate to visit the raptor center on a Saturday morning when the center had educational programming. Christine brought out a peregrine falcon and two red-tailed hawks. We learned about the birds and got to watch them eat and interact with the handler fairly closely. The only thing more amazing than the birds themselves was Christine- she was so super awesome! I've never been interested in falconry but she was so engaging that I found myself wanting to apprentice with her.

Several raptors and one crow, who could not survive in the wild because of permanent injuries, are outside in very large cages. Several of these birds are used to educate the public about raptors. The building is used to treat birds with the hope of returning them to the wild. There may be tours of the building, not positive about this.

We saw owls, falcons, eagles, and even a crow. They’re doing great work here. It was especially neat to see the eagles, and this was my first time seeing a peregrine falcon—they’re beautiful!
