I do not leave negative reviews lightly, but my experience with Josh Griffin warrants one. And if I could leave 0 stars, I would. What began as optimism about a long-term partnership quickly devolved into a masterclass in disorganization, poor communication, and zero accountability.
Josh arrived nearly 90 minutes late to our first meeting in April 2025. I ignored it because he sold an appealing vision. That was my mistake.
On installation day, he informed me he had “upgraded” a tree to a larger magnolia. I thanked him—assuming this was a professional courtesy. Instead, I received an invoice $500 higher than the approved estimate. The price increase was never disclosed or authorized. Changing materials without discussing cost is not an upgrade; it is irresponsible business practice.
He also failed to complete agreed-upon relocations of some existing plants on installation day and never returned to finish them. Once he collected over $5,000 from me for the job, communication became sporadic at best.
Most concerning was what happened next. We had multiple conversations about needing low-maintenance landscaping because I would not be watering daily. When plants began dying months later, Josh blamed me for not watering them, claiming new plants require consistent watering their first year. That critical information was never communicated and I’ve never had to plant new landscaping, so I was unaware. Expecting clients to guess at essential care instructions is indefensible.
Josh acknowledged the failure was due to miscommunication and agreed to replace the plants at no cost. Then he ghosted me for two months, ignoring repeated calls. He only answered when I called from a different number (a call I recorded), at which point he claimed he was shutting down his business and would never work in the service industry again—after yet another tirade disparaging his own crew, something he did consistently in person. What makes me believe he was lying about closing his business is because days later, the woman I spoke with in the office referenced “next season.” So he either lied to her or to me, and unfortunately, I think it was me, only so I’d get off his back. I desperately hope I'm wrong, and that he is, in fact, closing his business.
Josh Griffin has absolutely no business in the service industry. Professionalism requires transparency, follow-through, and basic respect for clients. If you value your time, your money, and your sanity, hire literally anyone else.

Josh and the team began our lawn mowing service this year and things went well in the early stages with the team notifying us when they were cutting and the app updated for the schedule. As we came to the end of the season communication became very poor and no notice was provided on days they would be mowing and services were not performed on the scheduled dates. In the end they did not perform a mowing in late November but billed for it anyway (lawn was still covered with leaves and grass was long). We have made multiple attempts to contact Josh to resolve the issue and have received no response. We do not recommend using this service.

This is our second season using Griffin for mowing and mulching and we highly recommend them! They are quick, professional, communicative, and the lawn looks great every time! I love the flexible payment options too!

After several years as a customer, I’ve cancelled my service with Griffin due to a lack of service. Today is October 11 and my lawn hasn’t been cut for a month. When I’ve reached out with issues regarding missed appointments, uncut areas, or sloppy work, their owner, Josh Griffin, is dismissive, condescending, and flat out rude.
Here’s my experience the last few years: -Started strong and did fantastic work -On several instances property was damaged; mower fell into a fence and some landscape lights broken… they fixed the fence after a few months and I was forgiving on the landscape lights -Labor, funding, time must have become an issue, as service and quality slipped from a 9.9 to a 6 and now I’d put them at a 2 or 3. -recently I’d get emails stating ”don’t worry, you’re on our priority route and your lawn is going to be cut this week…” it never was.
I appreciate the business let customers know they were struggling and asked for patience and reassured people service would only be interrupted for the week…. As I stated, it’s been a month since my full lawn was cut (they did cut it a couple weeks back but missed about 1/3 of the grass).
Shockingly, I was just emailed an invoice without consideration for their lack of follow through. Today I hired a new company; I wouldn’t recommend this business for your lawn care.

I want to recognize Matt from Griffin Lawncare for the outstanding job he does. He went above and beyond by trimming back the weeds growing onto my chain link fence from the association’s wooded area—something I truly appreciated. His attention to detail is excellent, and every time I speak with him, he is polite, courteous, and always eager to help. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated and professional, and Matt is a great example of the quality service Griffin Lawncare provides.

We had a complete landscaping overhaul. All the old torn out and new put in. Project was done before expected and color variations of the plants chosen look great! Nate and Rebecca were so nice and worked hard getting the flower beds configured just right! 5 stars to them and the owner Josh!
