Eugene is incredible! Look no further for a therapeutic massage. I’ve had two cervical fusions and a frozen shoulder. Needless to say I’m a bit of a wreck. My neck, back and shoulders were so tight causing me muscle pain in addition to the occasional nerve pain for 3 years. Eugene utilizes different modalities that he sees fit for your need. After each session I have been getting positive results and no more pain. He will also show you stretches to aid you in your recovery. I am so grateful for the continued improvement. Eugene is a healer!!

Eugene is my go-to person in New York for massage therapy. This is a clothes - on treatment, which is my preference. I was looking for a shiatsu therapist but could not find one. I met Eugene, we talked about the kind of work he does, and it sounded like it was not dissimilar to shiatsu. I think Eugene integrates a lot of different techniques into his treatment. I have been going to Eugene for a few years now, mostly for treatments related to back pain but his work is holistic. He treats the whole body while addressing the specific issues you have. I just came back today from a treatment for vertigo. It was different to previous treatments I'd gotten - it was kind of mind blowingly excellent. We give it a few days to see how the body responds to the treatment. I usually go for one or two treatments and then feel 'fixed'! Don't be fooled. This treatment reaches the parts other massage does not! I have had great results from the work that Eugene does. It is subtle and deep. It is truly healing.

A series of traumatic injuries led me to experience moderate to horrific pain in the sacroilliac area for three months. I got relief from two osteopaths, who were wonderful, but the pain, including spasms in my upper thigh, kept returning and increasing in intensity to the point where, three months later, I was really worried, frustrated, and unsure what to do next. My friend, who is a super knowledgeable and talented masseuse (not working at this time), recommended that I have a medical massage with Eugene Wood. After the first visit, I experienced an improvement. During that visit he put tremendous focus and energy into my treatment, healing me through his intent insight and intuitive awareness of what my body needed. He noticed that I had swelling near the hip area and focused there. When I returned for my second visit a week later, I still had pain while stepping down on my heel but little would I know of how dramatic the results would be after this visit. Once again, Mr. Wood put tremendous insight, energy, and awareness into my treatment, using cranial sacral therapy, (John Upledger method) and myofascial release, among many other modalities. Mr. Wood knows exactly which modality to use based on each patient's need. At the end of the visit I was able to walk away, stepping on my heel with zero pain, and each day has improved more and more. Additionally, as a result of this treatment, which heals the connective tissue, my blood pressure is lower. I rarely encounter healers with this kind of talent and consider myself extremely lucky. My friend who recommended Mr. Wood, is so delighted that she is now recommending others to him. His packed schedule attests to the growing awareness of his brilliance as a healer.

This review is way overdue!!! I have been going to Eugene since Nov 27, 2020. After a long day at work, the first week back this school year, I fell coming home into my house and did a job on my shoulder which includes mild to moderate tears of the rotator cuff, deltoid, bicep tendon, and various muscles throughout my shoulder. Let me preface this by saying I used to run 5k, finally ran a 10k, and had to stop due to knee and hip issues, and on top of it, fell and tore ligaments, tendons, and broken bones in my ankle back in 2015. I have never been the same since. Well, that is until I discovered Eugene. After weeks of physical therapy for my shoulder with not too much success, I did tons and tons of research for what can help me get back to work and everyday tasks/activities. I came upon a therapeutic/medical massage therapist named, Eugene Wood. When I realized he was located nearby right in Wantagh, I was like YES!!!! I was a bit nervous but left a message and he contacted me back that same day. I did not know him, or anybody that that does, and all I had to go on was my research; I figured it cannot hurt. I usually do not like strangers touching my body, but the improvement I made after just one session, made me want to go back each week. He is worth every single penny. I am still seeing him once a week to this day! I have not felt this good in YEARS!! He did more for me in 1 month than physical therapy did 2-3x a week for 3 months! It is because of Eugene that I am back at work. I was told by my orthopedic doctor that I will most likely need surgery. But, because of Eugene, that is no longer the case. I went to him for my shoulder but asked him to work on my hip. Well……. after years, I can finally walk up the steps like a normal person, one foot each step! This has not happened in years! Soooo…. not only am I getting help with my shoulder, but my hip has improved so much, that I am thinking once I lose a little more weight, I may actually be able to run again and/or do Zumba!! I do not even know how to explain in words what he has done for me. He is extremely knowledgeable and uses different modalities together to help the issues at hand. He listens and communicates, which I feel is so very important. He was able to read my MRI results, explained to me what it meant, offered areas of concern to work on. He always explains what he is doing and why. I love that about Eugene. He even found areas I did not even know I had a problem with. He recommends stretches and exercises that will help my conditions. He is not just a massage therapist. He listens, is compassionate, understands me, incorporates many different modalities/techniques and I do not need surgery, can lift my arm over my head, my hip AND knee are remarkably better, I have decreased pain, both chronic and acute, and I feel so very blessed that I did my research and found him. I call him my miracle worker. I never realized how important therapeutic massage is. It is not like a massage you get in a spa. I do not even go to physical therapy anymore because what he does for me far exceeds the quality I received at any physical therapy place that I have spent years at. I tell everyone about him, because no one should be suffering in pain as I have been for years. And, on top of it, after each session each week, I am so relaxed, I come home, and I am able to nap a bit. For someone with insomnia, this is an added benefit. If only I found him years ago, I probably would have never had to give up running. I know this review is long, but he deserves it. I am back to work and do not need surgery because of him. Gosh, I probably sound like a paid advertisement, but I did not know Eugene before and do not know anybody that knows him. I just got lucky in my research. Thank you, Eugene, for giving me my quality of life back!!!!
