Go elsewhere if you value your TIME and MONEY because the owner doesn't. They overbooked appointments knowing they dont have enough braiders for the appointments scheduled. This is not the first time I made and confirmed a 7am appointment. I live on Long Island and today left at 4AM to make my appointment. I was on time but wasn't seen until after 10am and still charged full price.Terrible customer service and they dont care. No apologies or trying to make it right. You think they would actually do something since all the customers complain about the same thing. Disgraceful business.

I came here for the first time and my experience was honestly traumatic. The stylist I had didn’t even want to do my hair and I feel like she took it out on me . She started out blow drying my hair and was ripping it out. I had to ask her to stop on a few occasions. She didn’t try to brush it first, just started RIPPING it out. She was parting my hair so hard it felt like she was trying to cut my scalp with the comb. I asked to add color and tinsel to my hair and she was pissed. It was no different than adding boho hair so I don’t know why she got so mad about it . She was pulling my hair so hard with each braid I had to hold the braid from the root to stop it from pulling so hard . I was literally crying, wincing and holding my face from how painful the whole experience was . My braids were done so tight I have red irritated bumps on my scalp . I’m honestly so traumatized from my experience there I don’t think I will ever go to get my hair braided again. I’m worried about the condition my hair will be in when I take the braids out. No one deserves to be treated like that. My pain was ignored and mocked . I’m very upset. If your stylist are tired and don’t want to work don’t force them to take on clients and watch them treat them with anger and disrespect.

I traveled over four hours and planned part of my New York trip around this appointment because I genuinely admired the work posted online. I booked weeks in advance, provided my travel schedule, confirmed my appointment details, and ensured pricing was discussed beforehand. Given the preparation and communication, I expected a professional and organized experience.
Unfortunately, shortly after arriving, I was informed that my service would cost an additional $100 beyond the price previously quoted. I respectfully declined and provided proof of our prior agreement. While the original price was ultimately honored, the interaction immediately created discomfort and concern.
As the appointment continued, I observed several situations that further diminished my confidence in the business. One customer was reportedly told that her hair was too thick and that she would need to blow-dry it herself. Later, I witnessed discussions regarding additional charges and changes to services that appeared inconsistent with what had originally been advertised. As a customer, it was difficult to watch and left me questioning the overall professionalism of the establishment.
The most concerning moment occurred late at night when I was asked whether I had cash and was told that I would need to accompany the stylist to an ATM so she could be paid immediately. I declined and offered an electronic payment method instead. I felt this request was inappropriate and placed me in an uncomfortable position as a client.
As the evening progressed, I became increasingly concerned about both the customer service and the quality of the work being performed. At that point, I made the decision to stop the service and leave. I later contacted the assistant regarding my concerns. While I was offered the opportunity to return the following day, the events of the appointment had already caused me to lose confidence in continuing the service.
What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that I chose this salon because I genuinely liked the work displayed online. I invested significant time, money, and travel to support this business. Unfortunately, the level of professionalism, transparency, and customer care did not match the expectations created by the brand.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used as an opportunity to improve communication, pricing transparency, and the overall customer experience moving forward.

This is a scam. they do this only when they feel like it. I went at 6am with an appointment scheduled and the shop was closed, it is not a 24hour shop. & I waited a hour outside and no one showed up!! Yes I called and called and they blamed train troubles knowing I had an appointment. I used to lived in New York all my life, the train sing take that damn long to start working. Ya just failed to wake up on time. ANYWAYS i ended up going to Diva hair braiding which took me immediately and finished my braids in 4 hours!!!

Don’t go here if you’re expecting the price to be the price you seen on TikTok. Went here asked for small boho and I bought my own human hair. Sat in the chair showed the lady reference pictures and she tried to say because I wanted small butt length that it would be 290. I told her I wasn’t paying that price since that’s not what was advertised and I don’t carry cash so I had the exact amount + the tip ready to pay. I proceed to show her the messages with the owner that confirmed it was $200. She proceeded to do my hair and continued to talk about it in her native. (I know they were talking about me because earlier they insisted what I asked for wasn’t boho braids and it was bora bora braids and they kept referring bora bora braids in the their conversation) mind you I only bought 2 packs of bulk hair.. no whee close to being bora bora braids. On top of that she braided a part of my edges and the hair in that area pulled out with the braid. Anyways, won’t be back. I get my hair done all the time and my hair has NEVER fell out. I’m used to the Africans trying to change their price but my hair falling out? Absolutely not
FYI: after arguing I paid the $200 that was advertised

I’ve been here a few times over the years. Last year I came and they did an amazing job on boho braids. Friday the 27th, I went for regular knotless above butt semi small braids. I was over charged and they weren’t that small. I have fine hair and the hair was too heavy for me. I asked her to make the braids smaller as in less hair in the braid but the braids were either a bit bigger or smaller. I spent $200 in the past, now it’s $250. I literally took the braids out yesterday. I don’t mind paying for quality, but I rather look good than to feel uncomfortable no matter how much I paid for a service.

I was really excited to try out this African store. I felt they would understand my hair better and give me a worthy experience, but no.
Poor customer service. They started detangling my hair spraying water on it - then make me walk close to 10mins to their different store. If they knew I was going to be washed in a different store, why start combining my hair and have me walk almost 10mins in the cold New York winter with my hair all out and kinky!!?
Dirty. I was to get a wash and blow-dry but it seems like I had to keep reminding them. The braider was getting ready to start braiding when I mentioned to her I had a wash n blow-dry before. The wash was less than 5 mins. The blow-dry was painful and they put a dirty towel on me with other people's hair. Their washroom had used water all over the toilet seat, with no toilet paper.
The store was not heated I had to request for a heater but I was still shivering. The braider was intentionally pulling on my hair to hurt me.
The braids weren't the kinky I was expecting but turned out neat.
