Caring and compassionate. Have used them since our childhood dog in 1978. Doctors have changed. Compassion remains the same. Highly recommend

What happened on Friday at Bellport Animal Hospital was unacceptable and my goal is to spread word to others to switch vets if they are seeing them. That’s all I can do. As far as honoring my dogs life, that’s boundless.
I went in there for a regular vet check on my 15 year old 8lb Chihuahua. My goal was to make my dog as comfortable as possible in the last of his days here on earth. We walked in- him wagging his tail- and I left with his pawprint. My plan was NOT TO euthanize him.
My concerns were not listened to, the focus was on upselling me on specialized bloodwork and testing for an already dying dog rather than compassion. What my children witnessed and the last moments of his life those images will be stuck in their head forever. We were treated like just another appointment, rushed out before 5 pm so they can carry on their lives on a friday night not a family saying goodbye to a beloved member.
I agreed to an xray- not knowing they would sedate him. My elderly 8lb dog was sedated so heavily for a standard xray that his tongue was hanging out of his mouth, left unattended, not strapped and fell off the table. They told me in his chart said that he was muzzled prior so they needed to protect themselves and sedate him. He was too old to handle this. He was so badly shaken up and rattled by what was going on that he lost control of his bowl and had a stress induced fecal incontinence while sedated. I was also told the veterinary was new, (Dr Horn) which was deeply concerning given the situation.. after an hour of arguing with them and him being completely lethargic head hurried into the table and my kids crying his first shot was given, he was yelping in pain. The dr expired my dog turned to us and said “I’m sorry” and walked out. No compassion- just cold carelessness.
After serving us for all those yesrs he did not deserve to go out like that- not being scared. And not without us saying goodbye properly. I wanted him home with me and my kids in the comfort of his warm bed. He deserved the best of the best!. Not this mess.
Before I filed a formal complaint I called their office and spoke to the manger- excuses were given and nothing was resolved. Now he’s gone and nothing can be done but I can warn other people to not bring their beloved pets there.
A heartbreaking experience made far worse by a lack of empathy and care..
Rest Peacefully my loyal companion 💙 So loving, so loved.

Dr. Cangro is the animal God. He performs miracles daily. Dr. Cangro's patience, professionalism, and deep knowledge of veterinary care are extraordinary. He’s never an alarmist, never judgmental, and always focuses on what’s genuinely best for your pet. He offers affordable, realistic treatment options without pushing unnecessary tests or draining your wallet. His honesty and compassion are unmatched, His techs and office staff are all so professional and kind in offen very stressful situations, there’s a reason I travel an hour and a half just to bring my pets to him. Thanks for Lacey even on her worse behavior days.

We have been using Bellport Animal Hospital for almost 40 years with the different pets that we have owned over this time - 2 dogs and three cats. I vividly recalled how they saved the life of one cat, Mia, who was having some internal issues at age five - she lived to age sixteen after the treatment they gave her. We had to have our latest cat, Bella, put to sleep and they were very compassionate, especially since she required more sedation than usual, because of her size. This is a great animal hospital!

I really don’t know where to start… the staff is INCREDIBLE!! Every single one of them care about there patients. My dog suddenly became drastically sick and Megan the clerk had advocated for my dog and was able to get me in asap even though they were completely booked up. All the doctors are great. I’m hoping with there help my dog has a speedy recovery. Thank you all so much for today you truly all make a great team!

I recently experienced an emergency with my dog, Chesney, when her face swelled up unexpectedly. Unfortunately, the Bellport Animal Hospital was closed, so I took her to urgent care. They suspected a bug bite, and the next morning, I called Bellport and was pleasantly surprised by the receptionist’s kindness. She quickly scheduled an appointment for us.
Dr. Kramer met with us, and her expertise was immediately evident. She thoroughly examined Chesney and conducted some tests, quickly identifying the root of the issue. I was impressed by her exceptional bedside manner; she explained everything clearly and guided me through the entire process, detailing what to expect and the steps they would take for Chesney’s care.
Within less than 24 hours, Chesney is already on the mend, and I can’t thank Dr. Kramer enough for her outstanding care. I will definitely share my positive experience with others. Thank you, Dr. Kramer, for being such an amazing veterinarian!

I had to have my 3 month old puppy put down because of a heart murmur. The doctor and staff was so attentive to my and my puppies needs. I greatly appreciate the care they gave Domino, and the concern they showed me. I greatly appreciate the staff.

I love that everyone is so friendly and it doesn't smell like a animal hospital. The girls at the front desk are amazing and the doctors are great as well. I use to go to them before they moved the new place is much nicer.
