After years of seeing multiple doctors without answers or lasting relief for my chronic back pain, I came to Performance Orthopedics hoping for help. They were very responsive in urgent situations—when my condition worsened and I could barely walk or sit due to severe pain radiating down both legs, they saw me quickly and scheduled an injection the next day. While I did experience minor relief, it was only temporary.

Over time, I underwent multiple injections and RFA treatments that provided little to no lasting benefit. I repeatedly asked about surgical options, given that I’ve been dealing with this pain for over a decade, but those conversations were never meaningfully addressed. Instead, the focus remained on continued injections and a trial-and-error approach.
I was also concerned that treatment decisions appeared to rely primarily on written reports rather than a thorough review of my MRI/CT images. At one point, I received injections in areas without ANY imaging, which raised additional concerns. During follow-up visits, I was often asked where it hurt rather than receiving a comprehensive evaluation of body movements and examination to properly identify the source of my pain.

Ultimately, I sought another opinion. That physician carefully reviewed my imaging, reports, and labs, identified an issue that had been missed, even by the radiologist and I required emergency surgery.

This is not something I take lightly. When a patient undergoes repeated treatments with only short-term relief, non-stop injections, it may be time to reassess the approach or refer out to a specialist such as a neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon. I believe that step should have been taken much sooner in my case.

I was going to wait until I was finished with therapy to do this review, but the care has been so great that I need to say something now. The care, the team, the communication with all of the staff and doctors is excellent and rare in this day and age. Everyone has been focused on my getting better and working towards that. This is an excellent group if you want more than just your typical Physical Therapy. They use a team approach, have OT, PT, techs, doctors, chiropractors, all working together and everyone is on the same page. The office staff is the best as well.

In my particular case it took me a long time to get in the condition I am with my foot (five years) with a few misdirected diagnoses along the way until I came to Performance Ortho. I knew going in that it was not going to be a quick fix for me, but the key is sticking with the program. And I definitely am seeing some improvement. Thank you!
