I purchased a home in Denville (July 2019) with the assistance of my real estate agent, Pat Novak, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Horizon Realty in Mountain Lakes, NJ. I was referred to Pat by a friend. As a first time home buyer, I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Pat. I think it merits mentioning: I can be an excruciatingly particular human being and I did not want to have regrets buying a home.
We worked together for 5 months before my partner and I found the right home. If you are searching for a home in NJ, you may have noticed that it is very segmented. Two adjacent neighborhoods could have very different prices/taxes. My partner and I looked online at what seemed to be over 300 homes, in Morris, Essex, Passaic, and Bergen counties. Pat helped us narrow down our search to find the best overall value within our criteria and managed to save us from making a couple of mistakes.
Typically, we would go out on Sat/Sun and on some afternoons we would see up to 5 or 6 properties. She did not give me any sales pressure and you can immediately see that Pat operates with a high level of integrity. I believe that she advised us reasonably and honestly. During our search, we offered 2 unsuccessful bids on 2 homes (lost to bidding wars). After the second unsuccessful attempt, I was exasperated with the process, but Pat was confident that we would find something that clicked. Shortly thereafter, (and the timing was perfect), we found a nice home, in a great neighborhood, that did not require a ton of construction $$ and will be an asset for our future. She flawlessly guided us from beginning to end. Thank you, Pat!
