The entire staff is phenomenal. I’ve always had a super positive experience here. Dr Jordan is an incredible clinician with a stupendous bedside manner…and a genuinely good dude. 5 stars all around!

Very professional staff and really cares. I received several followup calls after my Yorkie was ill. I Highly recommend them.

    Traumatic experience at AHOM

After 18 beautiful years we found ourselves in a place where we must consider voluntary euthanasia for our beloved pet.
We made the ever-so-painful choice to [humanely] put her to sleep, as her quality of life had diminished quite significantly.

We scheduled a 4:30pm appointment with the Animal Hospital Of Mebane; the last appointment time for the day.
When making the appointment, the person(s) I spoke with were quite empathetic and accommodating. I really felt as though we, and my pet (family member) were in good hands.

On the way to the vet, although slightly frazzled from the transport, and the unusual surroundings; (in contrast to the comfort of her own home), our pet acted quite normal, coherent and moving about as normal as she had been.
We entered the exam room where we waited until the vet tech came to take her to the back to administer the IV. (an IV is put in place so that a sedative can later be injected and the euthanasia to follow).
The VERY moment the vet tech brought her back into the exam room with the IV intact, her eyes were fixated; she was incoherent, unresponsive, immobile, accompanied with nonstop involuntary facial spasms and agonal breathing. (for those who are unfamiliar with the term- agonal breathing- irregular, shallow, and gasping breaths that occur when the body is nearing death).
This should have been a VERY clear sign [to the vet tech] that she needed to call upon the doctor IMMEDIATELY. But, instead, our beloved family member was left alone with us (for what seemed like an eternity).
I opened the ‘employee only’ door in attempt to gain attention from somebody, anybody!
Finally, the vet tech appeared in the doorway.
As I was hunched over the table crying, holding my dying pet. I looked up at her and said “CAN WE DO THIS ALREADY?!!“ She left to get the doctor.
Meanwhile, we continued to hold onto our beloved pet while she spasmed and gasped for each breath until her very last. One minute and 32 seconds passes before the veterinarian enters the room.
Our beloved pet TOOK HER FINAL BREATH before our very eyes, just PRIOR to the vet administering the sedative and euthanasia.

We have been through this process previously with a couple of pets. We watched them transition to the other side peacefully. Had we known the carelessness that was to behold with AHOM, we would not have brought our 12 year-old grandson to witness what should have been a peaceful transition.

In the aftermath, I asked (twice) to have the owner, Dr. Jordan reached out to me personally. That did not happen.
Someone in admin reached out to me. I explained everything to her. She said she would investigate and get back with me. It took her an entire week to call me back.
In that phone conversation, she offered a reason for the debacle; the doctor had never seen my pet previously, therefore did not know the condition my pet was in. (if I’m bringing my 18 y/o senior pet there for euthanasia, I can’t imagine how anything else prior would play a part in that).

Because of this incident, I do not trust that my family member(s) will be held in the utmost importance of care at AHOM, therefore I will be seeking future care with anyone other than AHOM.

You cannot find the quality of care anywhere that you get from AHOM. They listen to your concerns and care for your pet as if it were their own. I had two different vet offices tell me to put my cat down that clearly was not at that stage. They couldn’t handle a cat with co-morbidities. I called AHOM, they got me in and a plan of care was set up. Euthanasia was definitely not on the plan. My cat is old and I'm not expecting miracles but what I do expect is compassion, kindness and caring. That is what you receive at AHOM. Highly recommend!

We have taken our dog and 2 of our cats here a few times now and have had great experiences each time! Both of my cats have had reactions to vaccines and Natalie has been SO supportive and helpful during those stressful times, and Dr. Doug is very kind and knowledgeable he gives you time to ask questions and hears your concerns! Highly recommend!

This is our Primary care provider for our little fuzzy family member. I love it here, they so kindly put up with how late I am to appointments but when things hit the fan they are there 100%. So just today, (right now) I brought in our fuzzy family member because I think my 2yr old decided to give her some grapes… Animal Hospital of Mebane dropped everything and immediately got her back for bloodwork. 😍 I had no appointment and did not call ahead of time. Thank you 🙏

What a ridiculous rip off. If you want to throw away hundreds of dollars for the same care you can get anywhere else feel free. We have bred dogs for years and years. We always get our puppies their first shots and dewormed. We have been to two other vets in the surrounding areas with MUCH larger litters that cost us less than 1/2 the price of this place. The staff was nice, the place was nice, but insanely overpriced. Our last litter of Eight puppies we took to Stoney Creek in Whitset cost us less than $250 this litter of SIX cost us over $450 for dewormer and a shot you can get at tractor supply for $15. We were quoted $60 for the first pup and $30 each additional. Which corresponded with what we had paid in the past. Apparently, that was only the DOCTOR fee not the $38 per shot and then dewormer. They conveniently left that part out. Make sure you get an accurate price before you have sticker shock like we did at checkout.

Everyone at AHOM is so kind and patient. The front office staff is always smiling and welcoming. The techs are knowledgeable and great to work with, as are the veterinarians.
