Not sure where to start. I haven't visited a hair salon in over 15+years, because I normally do my own thing with my hair, not having much confidence in anyone. However, I needed my hair cut and style, so I started surfing the internet, and came across Black Pearl. The reviews did it for me, so I decided to give Ms Tina a shot at it. I went there with a very open mind, hoping for the best, but at the same time expecting anything. Let me tell you, Ms Tina was amazing in every sense of the word. She was very warm and inviting, very knowledgeable in her field. She works magic with her hands. To say the least I was very impressed the way she handled her skill. What an awesome hair stylist with a great personality. To crown it off she did a lot of teaching, educating me on my hair type and the products that would work best. I received so many compliments on my hair cut from family members, friends and strangers alike. I am so excited, experimenting with different styles and just loving it all the way. Thank you, Tina, for my awesome makeover.

I had been searching for a location that can not only style my natural hair but also teach me how get it healthy again. I'm Muslim so I also needed a place that was private. I never imagined I would find a place like this. Tina took her time to explain what I needed, and how to maintain it between visits. At no time did she make me feel uncomfortable or judged. There was zero pressure to purchase products. When I asked she said no. Send me pictures of what you have and I can see if what you have works. I promise not only did I leave out looking like a new woman I felt like one.

Requested style: My first time and she was so welcoming. First we started with consultation on my hair. She told my how to was and condition my natural hair at home. Then she started the process of deep shampooing and conditioning my hair and cutting my ends. She was awesome. And the style was is amazing. I absolutely love it and this will be my summer look. I’m thankful to have a new hair dresser. She gets 5 Plus stars all around.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience that I had today at The Black Pearl. The salon itself is so beautifully appointed and welcoming. The atmosphere reflects the spirit of its owner, Ms. Tina, who is the best hairstylist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Not only did she give me a great cut, she explained how to improve and maintain the health of my hair. I really appreciated that. Most important to me was just how comfortable she made me feel. It felt like I had known her for years, not just meeting today. That allowed me to trust her to give me a style I could feel good about and boy did she deliver. I recently moved to Durham and feel so fortunate to have found The Black Pearl and Ms. Tina; truly the best salon and hairstylist in Durham.

Tina is absolutely Amazing. I was visiting friends from out of state, I live in a rural area and have not had many cut my curls in a way that I felt confident about. I have very unique curl textures and was desperate. So I called her salon, she took the time to talk with me over the phone, she texted me and I sent her photos of my hair and preferred style, then she told me the price before hand. I was there for a little under two hours which was refreshing that she took that much time to get to know my hair needs. She knows hair so well. She told me that I had two different types of textures of hair and that explains why I was struggling with getting it cut in the ways that I was. She is the sweetest human on earth and you will not regret getting your hair cut by this amazing woman.

AMAZING SERVICE. PHENOMENAL WOMAN. BEAUTIFUL SOUL.!!!!! Ms. Tina is the best of the best . I had a few weeks to go before my wedding and I was very very stressed about my wedding hair look. I found The Black Pearl Durham after reviewing options and God blessed me with everything I needed. She was kind ,listened, effective, and prompt communication. I sent her photos of what I envisioned and she created the perfect look for me. I did a trial and was soooo happy with the outcome!!! On my wedding day she went above and beyond. We had prepped my hair the night before...adding the extensions ..washing..color etc. On wedding day we styled and got me ready in no time. She locked down my bridesmaids looks and even touched up a few who had hair done prior to flying in. Mannnnnn everyone looked stunning. And and she graciously chauffeured my best friend and I to wedding venue so I can retreat early to the bridal dressing room. What a Blessing to have such a person in my presence on such a special day ..everyone ..my mom..grandma..sisters..friends..can.feel the amazing person she is and the skill and passion she puts into her work. Thank you forever !!!!.
