Unimpressed. I sought out Mayo for consultation on a rather complicated case. I had read a few papers by one of the Mayo surgeons who was pioneering some novel approaches for this problem. I tried to schedule with that Dr, but they were booked out 14 months and they recommended I be seen through the sports medicine dept. I scheduled with them and flew from out of state for the appt. While the office staff was nice, the actual time spent with the Dr. was less than 15 minutes despite their website saying Mayo appts are longer because they are focused on patient care. The Dr. confirmed the problem that I was aware of and wanted me to book surgery the following week. He wanted an MRI but they couldn't fit me in before I had to return home so he said he was fine doing surgery without it. I inquired about this other technique his colleage was doing and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. He said he would ask his colleage and do a consult with him and get back to me. Never happened. Meanwhile he kept telling me he would do the procedure I already had fail. I ended up cancelling the surgery to think about it. I then ended up getting an MRI done once back home and sent the results to Mayo for them to review to see if anything on the MRI altered the game plan. Never heard a word back from them.

Every step of the way has involved me prompting them to do things or answer questions. Then they act like I'm a bother since they can't seem to follow through with what they tell me they are going to do. A complete waste of airline tickets and hotel stay and time away from work to be treated like someone who is just another number.

Ended up finding another surgeon elsewhere and the experience has been the complete opposite. He has made me an active part of the decision making, took ample time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. All things I would have expected from Mayo given their reputation.

Went for 3 months with no end in sight. Kicker was when I found an issue with billing. Accounting team then started moving thing around and charging more, that didn't match service or prior downloaded bills. This is unethical and I will never return to a Mayo clinic or hospital.

Was scheduled for surgery was delayed. I had to cancel because my hotel and transportation was nonrefundable. If I knew the doctor worked with the Timberwolves I would not have chosen him. That should have been with his profile. Will not be going back.

I wanted to share my positive experience in your clinic snd let you know that all involved in my treatment did an excellent job. My special appreciation to my physical therapist Kathryn Medinger, P.T.
After struggling with instability due to ligamentum injury and having chronic condition with RA l finally got right treatment.
She designed a treatment plan for me including exercise, proper posture and cold therapy. After each session she throughly make correction in my treatment to achive better result. Her service was exemplary. I value her professionalism, compassion, and patience. I did good progress with her tremendous support during my treatment. I continue to follow your recommendation. Now I am able to walk without brace even on longer distance.
I highly recommend her to anyone who needs physiotherapy.
    Definitely, she deserves recognition.

I use to go here and so did my daughter, but now it’s impossible to get into the clinic. They deny a lot of patience now. I tried multiple times, and even got a doctor referral, and was still denied. Stop promoting your clinic, if you can’t even take patients. I use to think the clinic was amazing, but something has changed and not for the good.

I underwent total knee replacement in early January of 2023 performed at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. While there was ample lead time prior to scheduled surgery, there was no pre operative preparation either given or administered. Upon completing the surgical procedure, there was no post operative care, no organized or supervised PT. I had to make my own arrangements for post operative assistance. I never recovered anything approaching full flexibility of my knee and most of those I have consulted since attribute this to a failure to undertake timely PT after surgery. I wrote a letter to Mayo's 'patient evaluation and concern' , but received no response. It is astonishing to me that Mayo continues to be rated highly for their orthopedics. As I said at the close of the letter I wrote and which was never answered, "Surgery is a procedure, but caring is a philosophy." While I think the surgery that was performed was adequate, I would not, based on my experience, recommend Mayo orthopedics to anyone. So much of the success of this procedure rests with carefully supervised, pre and post operative care which Mayo did not provide and for which they seem to take no responsibility.

The physical therapists and facility are great. Wish I had not ever got my acl surgery though - two and a half years later and still not recovered even with constant PT.When I inquired as to why I was still weak and in pain it took months for the surgeon to talk to me other than to take more ibuprofen or see a pain specialist. Finally, he said my muscle and other parts of my knee had degeneration and that was a natural reaction to surgery….. I can understand this for a short time but apparently it’s a long term situation which I was not informed of prior. When I had a second opinion for my acl and slow recovery I was told it was set at an angle and slightly off what it should be. Things happen anywhere but disturbing to know a place with surgeons like mayo can make mistakes too.
