Grand Master Jamie and her team at this academy are doing something truly phenomenal with these children. Taekwondo is one of the greatest investments you can make in your child. Team sports are wonderful, but there is something uniquely powerful about a discipline that asks your child to focus on themselves, to build a stronger mindset and accomplish things they never believed they could.
This team consistently challenges the children to do better and be better. Complacency is not tolerated here, and that standard shows. After around 7 months of joining North American TKD, my 8 year old son’s progress in the sport has trickled into other areas of his life. His grades and behavior in school as well as his self-control and social-emotional regulation have improved so much. He is so much more confident and able to focus since the start of TKD. We are so grateful to all of the kind, competent, and no bs masters and instructors at this dojang that has made this routine and my sons growth possible. It’s a real community and an excellent location for Ypsi locals. Absolutely worth the investment in my child.
My daughter started with this dojang a little over 1 year ago. When she started, she was unfocused, lacked confidence and was not as disciplined as she could have been.
I have noticed such a change in her over the year. I first noticed that I no longer had to tell her to do her chores. She now just goes in and does the dishes. She’s on top of her school work and is very thoughtful about how she wants to pursue her education. She’s already thinking about her path to college at 13.
