I received my replacement knee on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, and had my first MedStar Health Physical Therapy (PT) session on Friday. In total, I participated in twenty (20) PT sessions. As with a typical new knee, I had limited knee movement on PT Day 1. Zoey Packard and her PT Team worked with me from PT Day 1 through PT Day 20. I went from hobbling. and required the use of a walker on PT Day 1 to becoming a free walker by PT Day 20. PT Day 20 I had reached our joint-objective of a 127-degree knee bend, 0-degree knee flex, and reached my personal goal to ride 1-mile in less than 6-minutes on the stationary "warm-up" bike. I was having a tendon issue in my right foot. With the therapy I received at Med Star and the exercises I was given to do at home, my foot is 100% better. Lindsay, Meg, Mark and the techs all called me by name and worked with me the entire time I was there. I would recommend Med Star to everyone that needs PT.
A few weeks ago, I completed my physical therapy with Lindsay and Allison at Westminster Physical Therapy. I was with Lindsay, the PTA for most of my visits but the two are a team and what a team they are. I am so grateful for the movement and flexibility I now have after almost 3 months with them.
I had breast cancer last year and ended up with complications for over 2 months and on a wound vac. This created a lot of scar tissue and cording and somehow Lindsay worked a miracle on me.
