Silver Spring Animal Hospital

I just had a really great experience with Silver Spring Animal Hospital and they'll now be my dog's primary provider. I've struggled with vet care for my 4-year old pup because she's so fearful and resistant. I found this practice through the Fear Free website, because the vets are certified fear-free, which means they've received training on how to calm down fearful dogs. They worked with me to get a good dose of calming drugs before the visit and they allowed me to stay in the room with her which was really important to me (I want to know how my dog reacts and I know my presence makes her feel better even if she was still uncomfortable). We've been with SSAH since 2014. Dr. Krishna is wonderful and very caring with animals. They are incredibly careful during COVID (you can't go in the office for the exam) and to manage visits during this time, Dr. Krishna called me before she saw our pets to get an overview of their health, she called me after the visit and she called again after she had the blood work for one of them. This has to be taking a LOT of extra time but at no point did she rush me and answered all of my questions.

First time taking our dog in, it felt like they were very thorough in checking his current health status. A couple of visits later, and we still feel they care about our dog getting the best health care. They have a new online pharmacy setup that we have tried to use, but our experience with it isn't great. They really need to figure out how to improve the communication for when they don't approve an order. We are still waiting for our heart worm and tick meds after confirming the order finally went though. Compared to Chewy getting it to us in a couple of days, it feels like something I don't want to try for any meds our dog might need if sick.
