I have used this practice for 20 years. Dr. Smith and Dr. Bastien are very knowledgeable and professional. The Techs are wonderful as well. They all care about the animals they treat and make me feel like my pet is in good hands. I haven't had much interaction with the other vets in the practice.

Called in the fall to bring my dog, who was seen by this business since he was a pup, to get his rabies vaccination updated and was told they would not do it and I should take him to Petsmart or a rabies pop day clinic.......yet they were his vet!!! So, this week I put an order in for Hartguard and Appoquel for my other dogs to Chewy and Amesbury approved it. So today I put an order in to Chewy for Nexgard (not a testable item) and I was declined!!!!!!! Won't use them ever again.

I love everyone at AAH. They have always taken great care of our pups. They removed some fatty lipomas from our last dog Buck, and had them do a dental cleaning as well with great results. They are reasonable and understanding of the costs of things like surgeries and will do their best to resolve injuries or diseases as minimally invasive as possible before offering a more aggressive treatment. We had a mass debulked from Buck's ear that delayed the ultimate need for a TECA. When we had to say goodbye to our last Buck they were so kind and understanding through the process. We bring our dog Kingsley there now and they did surgery on his hind leg to prevent subluxation of his knee cap and painful arthritis down the road. The surgery went great (the techs didn't want us to take him home ) and he now plays runs and jumps no problem. I recommend them to everyone.

They get high marks for taking in a turtle that I had witnessed getting struck by a car. They took it in immediately, assessed the damage (after determining whether it was a species they were allowed to work on), and quickly began treating it. They get lower marks for their treatment of my 5 month old kitten...the part-time female vet was rude. She literally shamed me for getting only one kitten from the shelter. I said I couldn't afford two and she basically said then I should not have gotten one!!! I'm disabled -- money is limited and properly taking care of one is feasible. I have plenty of time to devote to the kitten's development and care. I couldn't afford to get a grain free diet, vitamin supplements and other things for two. She continued to shame me for his weight -- which fluctuated as he went through growth cycles. He's a solid, healthy 9.5 lb 1 year cat now. Given his physical size, he is not overweight. When I return for his yearly shots I will not see the same vet. If they don't give me another option, we'll go to a different veterinarian clinic.

We switched from Salem animal hospital. After trusting salem with our pets for many years we made the best decision as to switching to Amesbury animal hospital. Helpful, friendly staff. Always informative on the phone. Questions answered, medicine is easy to pick up. Love the pet of the month in facebook, our beagle got pet of the month for October. Thank you AAH for welcoming us and making it clear as to why we chose you for our fur babies.
