About Midwest Eye Center - Calumet City
Midwest Eye Center offers efficient and friendly service, with recently updated equipment such as check-in kiosks and advanced camera systems for eye scans. Patients appreciate the quick turnaround for appointments, though some have noted that the system for calling patients could be improved. The staff is helpful and accommodating, including those who assist with language needs. Many patients find the staff to be receptive and knowledgeable, with doctors providing professional care. Assistance during visits is often described as great and pleasurable to speak with. The front desk staff are generally kind and well-informed about their jobs, although some patients have experienced issues with communication and professionalism. For example, there have been concerns about staff speaking Spanish in front of patients and making rude comments, which left some feeling uncomfortable. Patients also shared experiences with phone operators, noting that some were not well-trained to handle appointment scheduling or understanding reports, leading to confusion about procedures and insurance billing. Despite these issues, the overall experience is often positive, especially when patients receive prompt help from dedicated staff. One staff member, Marianna, was particularly praised for going the extra mile to help patients in urgent situations, demonstrating true professionalism and excellent customer service.
I had cataract surgery on both eyes in January 2020. Dr D was my surgeon and I was very pleased with the results. I now see him once a year and my vision is 20/25 in both eyes. I would recommend them for eye problems.
Excellent service and Doctors professionalism.
September 3, I was scheduled for a retina scan. Drove all the way to Cal City to find them closed. I never received a notice my appointment was canceled. Then, shortly after I got there, I received a text asking to confirm an appointment for September 24, which I did. Got there the typical 15 minutes early and asked how they were doing on time. They said they were doing good. 3 hours later I walked out beyond pissed off. Had I not walked out, I was looking at at least another 90 minutes to be seen. I need this scan because of the cancer meds I take so it's important for me to get it done. They've claimed to be understaffed all year but still continue to overbook appointments and completely waste your time. I have other important things to do in life besides sitting in an uncomfortable chair waiting all day for someone who obviously doesn't give a crap.
