I'd say most 'tourists' skip this authentic Chinatown area but I'm so glad we explored it! We had really tasty 'pork buns' and Taylor had a superb detail on his car. I was in dire need for a manicure. I brought my own polish, hoping we'd have time. Taylor and I both got a manicure. $20! The ladies were extremely meticulous! Just like the good ole days when they actually spent time cleaning each cuticle and taking their time on each nail. Impressed! She gave a quick DEEP massage on the arms and neck. I don't know if the lower reviews were for the nail portion of the salon but I got my hair cut today and they did a good job! I was originally waiting for instyle hair & nail salon in Maunakea marketplace but their hair stylist wasn't in yet, I guess I was too early lol. Went around the corner to see if they had someone available and since she was I decided to try it out. She was a very good stylist and she had to work hard since I have a lot of hair and it's pretty wavy, she had to straighten my hair while cutting to make sure it was even. The owner is really nice and welcoming. My mom has been a loyal customer for years but it's not a place I would recommend. Not all the workers are qualified or even socially aware of certain things.
