Without doubt, this Martial Arts school is the preeminent facility in Atlanta to teach young and old people the value of goal setting, perseverance, discipline, determination and skill development. Everyone, especially youngsters will be influenced portly the experience.

The dojo has taught me much more than I could have ever imagined. It has been a part of my life for nearly 2 decades and Mr. Gaffney, Ms. Bautista, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Kellert have created a fantastic and well oiled machine that creates well disciplined, respectful, and badass students. We are a dojo family and if you have the opportunity to train here, I would suggest doing everything you can to seize that opportunity.

To say that the Dojo is a great place to train in Karate is a vast understatement: it is a life altering experience. My children go there and not only are they receiving top notch martial arts training, but they are trained to be the best people they can be. After my older child trained here for a year, I decided to join too, and I strongly regret not joining earlier. I'm learning a new sport, surrounded by a community of wonderful and supportive people, learning a new language, and learning new philosophies. I also feel the best I've felt in years: I've literally had a doctor prescribe more Karate for me. I have nothing but respect and feelings of joy towards the Dojo and all the staff there.

I am a 75 year old Shodan (1st Degree) blackbelt in Shotokan Karate and same in Kodokan Judo. (Actually original black belt was in TaeKwonDo.)Started back when martial arts groups trained mostly in clubs. There were only a few "schools" until I was in my teens. Competed extensively in both karate and judo in much younger years. Although I have worked out in Judo, Aikido and Brazilian Jujitsu in recent years, I haven't really trained in karate in over 14 - 15 years.Broke leg and tore up knee in Brazilian Jujitsu, and both my doc and I agreed can't do "grappling" styles due to joints going with age - but still got everything else pretty good in karate (except have to go real easy with kicks due to injuries - and age!).Did find a great Karate club, but an hour and 1/2 drive from my home, so just can't get there. Then decided to check out The Dojo in Georgetown Shopping Center in Dunwoody, near my home. After literally over 60 years in various martial arts styles, schools, etc., I am extremely impressed with The Dojo in Georgetown. The owner and chief instructor, a 6th degree black belt ("Sensei" or "Shihan" - Master level black belt) is not only a great guy he is totally the real thing. Very high skill level, and training is excellent.I have probably trained in over 15 or 20 different martial arts/karate schools over the years, and some really aren't that good.As an old (but creaky!) martial arts practitioner who has seen just about everything in 60 years, I highly recommend The Dojo at Georgetown. Excellent training, and terrific for kids and teens - they are getting a lot of good "training" in discipline, organization and respect, besides karate - owner and chief instructor really cares about his students, which also counts for a lot. Ten stars if I could give that!Sorry this "review" is a little long, but I thought it important that while I am nothing special personally in martial arts, I should mention a little of my background and qualifications to offer review.
