As a recent transplant to Florida I was looking for a gym to train Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at so I did my research of the area. I am truly elated that I found Martin Academy. Sifu LaVonne, Coach Ted, Coach Bruce, and Coach Mike are all around amazing human beings. They are beyond kind, knowledgeable, encouraging, and patient (I think I've seen rocks with better motor skills than I have). Training here is truly the highpoint of my day, and I learn just as much from the instructors as I do from my fellow students. I miss going here! I randomly decided to go here a few years ago and really enjoyed my time here Sifu Martin is really cool her dog is awesome and her story is so cool! I really enjoyed the bond I created with her! If I remember right the Thai boxing instructor was josh and I trained with a Bruce also. This place is really awesome and just opened my eyes and mind and confidence in alot of regards. I would highly recommend this faculty
I went searching for a self defense class when I came to the academy, and 1+ years later found a new passion for martial arts. I've always thought I was too old to do a new sport (24 yrs at the time), and quickly found that BJJ, Muay Thai, etc. doesn't care about your age as long as you put the time and effort in. Martin Academy is truly a rare place as it offers a plethora of martial arts classes to choose from. It's a one-stop shop! The instructors are beyond talented and most importantly, they are welcoming, non-judgmental, and just plain fun to be with!As a woman, I never felt uncomfortable during my time there.
