Learn to play the fun way! We offer music lessons to ages 7 and up--you're never too old to start! Our professional musicians teach one-on-one guitar, piano, drum, voice, bass, and ukulele lessons. We also offer a band program for those who want to play together, and our annual Student Show offers all students the chance to perform live (with instructors & other students) in a real music venue and show off their skills for friends and family. Our studio in historic East Hill is open Mondays through Thursdays + Saturdays. We pride ourselves on our friendly, individualized approach--no books, no set systems; you don't even need to learn to read music. My son and I have been learning from Jim brown for the past 4-5 months. Jim has made it so much fun for my son that he has started to tell me that he wishes it wasn’t only once a week. My son is a hard sell on most things and this is a testament to how great Jim is with him and how he makes learning fun. Thanks so much for all you time Jim
We have been to our share of music instruction places as well as in-home teaching… Well, we gotta say- Jim Brown’s Gulf Coast School of Music on 9th and Desoto is amazing! My sons first words after their lessons with Robert (guitar) and Destiny (voice&piano) were “When can we come back!?” They teach the kids using songs they like and WANT to learn, while also covering the basics of music instruction! Great knowledge & customer service as well!
Jim and Robert are the best teachers in town. I tried other teachers before and never made much progress in learning the guitar. Ever since I started studying at the GCSM under Jim and Robert, my progress has increase exponentially. There are many good musicians in town but not many good teachers, Jim and Robert are definitely the best teachers in town for students of any age.
