I just finished up my 200 hour YTT and I wish I had read a review like this before signing up.** The most important thing I want to share: if you are looking for a technical and in depth training to become a yoga teacher, this is not the right program for you. If you’re looking for a spiritual retreat, yoga retreat, or general knowledge of hatha yoga and enlightenment, then this is the program for you.I’ll start with the pros:- The people are loving and caring- Food is healthy and filling- The ashram itself is luxurious and filled with fruit trees and quiet spaces- There’s two yoga classes a day- The Guru is passionate about what he does and has your best interest in mindThe things that frustrated me- You only learn one yoga flow the entire time, which I felt is not applicable to modern yoga practice in America. You also have to slowly piece things together as to why the flow is designed the way it is, they did not teach that- You spend about 5+ hours a day seated on the floor listing to the guru talk about things that are not super relevant to teaching the physical yoga practice- There was VERY limited education in physical yoga practice. We covered: how to teach handstands, form corrections, and anatomy and physiology.- You never have any idea what’s going on and no one tells you. There’s no syllabus and details are withheld for things like the “day off” until the very last minute- The guru is a bit slow and rudeIf you’re looking for something more technical- you’ll feel frustrated every day. But again, If that’s not what you’re looking for it’s fun to slow down for two weeks, detox the body and mind, and lean into a different way of living.

Such a beautiful place. I learned so much about the yogic way of life. It was truly a honor to be involved in such a divine experience. Om Shanti

Didn’t have a good experience here. The yogi was rude asking me if I didn’t speak English because I was having difficulty stretching within a class of 18yr old girls. I am in my late 30’s and literally just started. He was not very nice or welcoming. Seemed like a pretty rude guy. Everything seems disorganized when you get there for the first time. I would not recommend this place it’s in the middle of nowhere too.

The yogi could be nicer to people that have never done yoga. He was very rude to me because I was not moving like the main class of 18 yr olds. I am in my late 30's and new to yoga. Would be nice to acknowledge that. The pictures I see of this place are not realistic to the age of the classes there. There are very young women in these classes. Also the place is disorganized if you come during the early morning hours.

I had a great YOGA DAY experienced, I've met a lot of like minded interesting yoga practitioners. His daughter guided us a good hatha yoga practice, then we had nourishing vegetarian lunch, went for a nice walk around his property, followed by satsanga. His youngest daughter has a beautiful voice. Yogi Hari shared his wisdom to us. He is not trying to impress anyone, this is a humble non-pretentious ashram filled with natural fruit trees. Please have an open minded to be a guest here, respectfully willing to learn. I believe they are good family that are sharing their knowledge to their community so they can earn an honest living as well. OM Shanti.

If I could leave zero stars I would. This school may have been good at one time but it is horrible now. Yogi Hari belittles and berates the students, at one point he said "all cats and horses should be dropped off at the local Chinese restaurant." Then he laughed about it saying that he didn't say to kill them. According to him anyone that keeps pets are terrible people and he spoke at length about this. This is what we did instead of learning yoga. He had Satsang chanting that we are somehow magically supposed to have memorized the first day of class. He spent hours talking about how great he is. We learned all about his childhood and teenage years and secular life (multiple marriages) before he gave it all up to become a yogi. We were constantly reminded of what bad people we are because we aren't willing to turn our backs on society. This was during our so called learning time. When I complained I was told that this is how he connects with people. My daughter became ill the first day we were there and wasn't able to attend these ridiculous sermons of his. I was told that she could come back another time and retake the course (and pay again of course) but that I should stay and finish the class. The meals provided are about as cheap and unsatisfying and poorly balanced as you could get. All in all the days are 16 hrs with a 2 hr break for studying and out of the 16 hrs we received about 3-4 hours of yoga training. I could only stand it 3 days and had to leave. And then I was harangued by one of his devotees about what a horrible person and mother I am. Even their marketing material is incorrect. A shuttle from the airport is at least double what they tell you it is. Do not go to this school if you want to learn yoga. The main teacher was not in attendance having to leave the country due to visa issues (we were told) and Yogi Hari couldn't even remember the yoga sequences from his own program. He was so confused and rambled on making no sense at all. This place is a complete scam.

I went to the Ashram for the first time this Sunday for the satsang. I was really excited, nervous, and not sure what to expect. When I arrived to the building it was really dark and I wasn't sure which door to enter. So I entered the front door. I was met with people sitting at a table eating a vegetarian meal. Yogi Hari sat at the edge of the table. I introduced myself but everyone stared at me pretty blankly. Then one girl showed me where the satsang was. During the Satsang I was one of two other new guests. He would only acknowledge the other two guests and ignored me. He asked their names and engaged with them. Someone had to bring his attention to acknowledge me but he just looked at me and didn't ask for my name like the other two women. The satsang was beautiful. Afterwards, he gave a talk on the importance of health. The first time he acknowledged me was when he looked directly at me and asked me if " i knew what a blunt was?" So weird. After the satsang he asked if anyone had questions. I asked if they had other events throughout the month. He mentioned the yoga teacher training. Then he looked directly at me and asked "ANY OTHER QUESTIONS!?" In a strange tone. When it was over everyone kneeled in front of his feet and bowed while he pat their heads. I chose not to. It was my first time there and I simply went to feel it out. I was respectful but I didn't feel called to bow at his feet. I was the only one who didn't. Then, a student wanted to give the guests a tour. I was completely ignored and I felt a lot of weird energy. All though I'm sure the yoga teachings are beneficial and the garden has many wonderful herbs like soursop leaves I would not go back. I came with an open mind and excitement to learn but I left with disappointment and confusion. I will look for another ashram that hopefully aligns with me much better

It's been a pleasure and honor to complete my Yoga teacher training at Yogi Hari's Ashram. I yearned for an authentic experience living within a community of fellow aspirants. The course is very detail oriented covering all aspects of yoga. I feel confident in my ability to teach , due to the support and encouragement of the course facilators. Yogi Hari is a fountain of wisdom , holding up the light for those seeking a way , sharing a lifetime of his experience as a devotee to this path. Yet it's common for "Gurus" to drink their own Kool aid ? . He's legit don't get me wrong , yet he had a firm grip on the minds of the live-in disciples , which I heard afterwards deserted him. I've dealt with his naiveness and arrogance , yet overall good dude good intentions. The leading instructor made enlightenment feel "carrot on the stick like" when ive learned enlightenment takes a moment to realize yet it takes a lifetime to cultivate. You are the one holding the stick, the stick, and the carrot!!! ? Gurus help you realize the inner Guru . Go to Vipassana and sit in silence for ten days, make it a lifestyle and you'll experience what I'm talking about. So everyday we would rise for Meditation, Chanting, and Satsang (spiritual discourse) followed by a Yoga Class, in the afternoon we also practiced and reviewed the previous days' content. We live dorm style , and enjoyed freshly prepared food from the onsite garden. If you are a nature, farm & garden lover, it sits on a 16 acre fruit orchard, with an awesome swimming hole to cool off after karma yoga. I look forward to returning and maintaining good association with the community . Om Shanti ?️☮️
