Over the years I've taken yoga classes with many teachers, in different styles and Edwin Bergman is the very best teacher of yoga I have ever had. What makes him so great? He is more concerned about getting into each pose from the inside, out. He has a unique ability to articulate each subtle movement to do this, and each directive goes directly into my brain, with the result being so much more profound. Another rare gift that he has is the ability express the the essence of Eastern thought in basic terms, in a way that is not at all preachy or sanctimonious. I had the great privilege to practice with Edwin for years in NYC in the earlier 2000’s. Like many others, I attended every class I could, not just because Edwin is a really good teacher (he had what I would call celebrity status and a kind of cult-like following in the downtown yoga scene at the time). Classes were transformative, both in body and in mind. I, like many other New Yorkers, were heartbroken when he left for Miami. Fast forward 9 years to the early days of the pandemic. I have been practicing Yoga with Edwin for about 10 years now.All along these years I have witnessed his consistent grace, dedication, compassion towards himself and his Yoga practice. He then gift this to his community of students, colleagues and teachers.Edwin has a vast knowledge of the human anatomy and he organically infuses it in the classes, always empowering the students.
