Islandside Animal Hospital

WORST VETERINARIAN EVER!! If I could give Dr. Nichols less then a one star I would. She preformed an unblocking procedure on January 30th on my male cat Clyde. She released him still under sedation. No after care at all or indtructions to go home with.
My boy Clyde re blocked again. On February 6th 2026 so I opted to have a PU done. Clyde again was sent home, no three day hold to allow the swelling to come down, still loopy and appeared to be sedated. He came home again with no after care or home instructions from Dr. Nichols and Clyde still was blocked and could not urinate. Unfortunately Island side was not open over the weekend, so Clyde was rushed to Vet Now in Cape Coral. The vet there was very concerned about the surgery and Clyde's outcome. She said there are a lot of red flags and didn't know if Clyde was going to even live. He stayed at Vet Now until Monday AM which was on Feb 9, 2026 at which time they were closing. I was informed the opening to Clydes uretheria was to small and would keep re blocking. We were sent to The Cat Hospital off College Parkway in Ft Myers and Clyde was re admitted with the cath still sewn in so he could urinate. The Cat Hospital closed at 5 pm so Clyde was un cathed and sent home. Clyde was unable to urinate. At 11 pm, I rushed him to Blue Peal with the understanding they would do a reconstruction surgery to fix the botched surgery Clyde had gone through. When we arrived we were told they could do a catheter for over 2000 but no surgery until Thursday and that would have been over 4000! I didn't have that kind of money. I along with my daughter we had at that point already spent close to 6000. Yesterday, February 10th after spending hours on the phone trying to save Clyde's life, I finally found a vet to take him and re catheter him with a PU reconstruction on the table. Clyde is currently in the hospital and expected to be there for the next week or longer. I am furious with Island sides lack of compassion or caring. In fact after texting several times questioning Clyde's surgery, Dr. Nichols who was the vet that preformed Clyde's botched surgery kicked us out!! I did reach out to Island side animal hospital however I was met with a very cold tone and was informed we have been fired! We have been fired?? For the lack of quality surgery and lack of the after care which came close to taking Clyde's life? Clyde has suffered so much and has been passed through so many hand, has been drugged, knocked out and had so many catheters put in just in 4 days. Clyde has been admitted to three different vets in only four days. This is unexceptable and I asked for my money back. I was denied, yet three vets will vouge that this surgery was not done correctly and completely lacked any after care nor any follow up calls to check on Clyde. Please seek another vet but your pet deserves quality care and in my experience, this is not the place to go. Your beloved pet is counting on you to make the best judgment call on there behalf. I don't know if my poor Clyde will make it but were all swinging to the fence for him. Six thousand dollars later and were no further ahead then where we first began. I maxed out every credit card I had to pay Island Side the 1600 plus 500 dollars extra. My daughter put in 1800 with the Vet now and I covered an additional 500. I am broke, exhausted and became so ill from the stress of trying to save Clyde's life. Please pray for my boy Clyde. I am so worried about him. This is his last chance. We wouldn't be in this position with Clyde if the surgeries were done correct. My poor Clyde is in severe pain and confused. This has brought me to tears and my emotions have run the gambit. We are all exhausted and Island Side couldn't care less!!!!

Dr. Nolan and the staff at islandside veterinary clinic were above and beyond great . Very knowledgeable and caring. Extremely clean and pricing is very fair. My groomer, posh pet parlour (Sarah) is whom referred me to islandside and I couldn’t be more thankful and I trust my fur baby’s upcoming surgery will be a success in their hands!

What a great first experience. Very accommodating and the staff was very personable. So glad we found Dr. Bean! The pricing is amazing.

More extractions then we had planned on. Dr Braun is the best vet I’ve ever taken my pets to! His staff is caring and has great “bedside manner” thank you!

I am so grateful I found Islandside, their staff is all so friendly and you can tell they really care about the pets the see. I particularly love Dr.Schaft and tech Kail who are so friendly and nice to my two kitties.

The Islandside team has always been amazing. Recently I took my GSP, who is not a fan of his nails getting done, and the team of Kail, Hunter, and Bethany worked to keep him calm to accomplish the clip. Dr. Braun has ALWAYS been my trusted vet at Islandside. This office has great policies and will estimate pricing for you as well as offer options for treatments as needed. Highly recommend Islandside Vet Care!!

Fantastic staff very good at what they do and very very reasonable prices. I live in Orlando and am willing to make the drive for their exceptional service. I will always be driving back for nonemergency procedures and services.

I have been taking all three of my babies to Islandside for three years now. The entire staff is wonderful and they truly care about your babies. I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Apking, Dr. Husted and Dr. Schaft over the years at different appointments. All three doctors are amazing at what they do - extremely knowledgeable and I have always been heard by each and every one of them. They are all so kind and intelligent and seriously amazing. If you are in search of a vet, this is the place! Pricing is affordable and they have a great team!

I was able to get an evening appointment today to help out with my busy work schedule and Maria and Dr. Schaft were very helpful and were able to get Mushu seen quickly. Thank you Islandside for all you do for my fur-babies and I. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not sure how I feel about this visit. Front desk staff was friendly, Technician was friendly, Vet was OK.
Bloodwork cost, I thought was great, until I found out it was pieced together and you had to add on urine, heartworm test, fecal etc. Dr also later approved a 11- 20 pound dose of flea and tick prevention for my 4# dog. That was paid for and shipped to me. Thank God I noticed the size was wrong as that could have been a HUGE problem for my little dog. Big mistake.
Not sure if I would continue using this veterinarian for care.
