I want to caution others about my recent experience with Dr. Dave at Chapparal Animal Health. After years of bringing my pets to him and recommending his integrative veterinary care, I was shocked by how he handled a serious health issue with my cat. When my previously healthy cat suddenly became very ill, Dr. Dave examined him and immediately concluded he was dying. I requested bloodwork, but he refused, claiming my cat was too dehydrated, and discouraged a visit to the emergency vet due to cost and the same expected diagnosis.
We left with only fluids and no medication or comfort care. Still concerned, we took our cat to the ER. They were able to draw blood without issue, diagnosed a UTI and manageable stage 2 kidney disease, and treated him with IV fluids and antibiotics. Our cat made a full recovery and is back to normal.
Had we listened to Dr. Dave, we might have lost our pet unnecessarily. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I urge anyone using this clinic to seek a second opinion if something feels off.

Dr. Dave and his entire staff are the most genuine, caring, authentic people anyone could ever imagine. Dr. Dave is down to earth, relaxed and brilliant!

Dr. Dave is the best. He helped my senior border collie with acupuncture and chiropractic. He and his staff are always so kind and compassionate. I 100% recommend Dr Dave if you are seeking holistic alternatives for your pets.

Dr. McCluggage prescribed our dog a DAILY antibiotic treatment to be taken for OVER FIVE MONTHS for his skin issues. We expressed concern over the length of time on multiple occasions but he insisted this was the right treatment.
We found out later from several other vets what a horrible thing this was. Our dog never recovered the damage to his immune system and his skin, eye, and ear problems multiplied 10 fold.

Please take your precious furbabies elsewhere. We will forever regret trusting this vet :/

I would not recommend this "vet" to anyone. I wish I had read Emily L's review before coming because she had a similar experience to our's. We were looking to combine eastern medicine & his dietary/supplement suggestions to the regiment of western medicine our pup is going through. Instead, we got a lecture about how all the supplements we have her on are useless, vaccines are useless, the food we were giving her was overpriced and useless, but GUESS WHAT? Buy his magical powder that he'll whip up for you and that will work great! Felt more like a scam than a vet. Overall a traumatic experience seeing him.

Dr.McCluggage has helped my German Shepherds with digestive issues, arthritis, etc. when other vets could not. I love that he incorporates acupuncture, herbs, and chiropractic in his care when needed. Staff is fabulous. Highly recommend!

My dog is thriving under Dr Dave’s care. He gets regular acupuncture and chiropractic treatments. He is 13 and is as youthful as a much younger dog. My dog LOVES coming here, (even after getting a dental cleaning!)

Doctor McCluggage is amazing! I have an older dog and she loves going here! 10/10 would recommend him and his staff to anyone with a beloved animal.
