Bear Creek Dental

I'm posting as a result of Dr. Mastin examining our senior loved one who I'll call Grandpa. Grandpa is wheelchair-bound, 95 years old and deeply in dementia. The front desk greeting was gentle, efficient. The office was clean and pleasant with plenty of free parking. Although there was an appt time snafu, Dr.'s MA called us, dutifully confirmed our story via their phone log then spoke to Dr. Mastin who agreed to examine Grandpa as planned. Dr. Mastin listened to a description of Grandpa's dental issues, took panoramic films (twice) because Grandpa couldn't support himself on the mouth-post. A combo of a pillow and my supporting Grandpa's shoulders while he stayed sitting in the wheelchair worked! Dr. carefully viewed each upper tooth using a camera tool that reflected in a computer monitor, taking notes the whole time. Grandpa had a hard time opening his jaws repeatedly, but Dr. was patient and used encouraging language with Grandpa. He gave us a reality-based prognosis. We discussed a worst scenario, what remedying the bad teeth would be like for Grandpa, recovery time and risks of IV sedation at his age. I found Dr. Mastin to be pleasant, patient, diplomatic and realistic in his expectations. He invited us to reach him if we decided to move forward since an oral surgeon would need the records. The exam, panoramic films, extensive ID of upper teeth and professional advice came in between $400-$500 which I consider a bargain for all the time Dr. Mastin spent with Grandpa. We paid cash but the office offered to file our insurance. Bear Creek Dental made a challenging day a little less difficult because they understood how to treat seniors, how to work around dementia and kindly treat patients.

We were in Mexico and I broke a tooth. Dr Mastin answered his phone on a Saturday afternoon and advised me how to deal with the broken tooth. We got home at 10PM and had an appointment next morning at 7:30. My wife and I have been seeing Bear Creek Dental several years. With this kind of service...we will never leave. Dr. Mastín has been my dentist for about 25 years. He’s so kind and his staff are all great. They work closely with my dentist in Florida as we live between two locations. They’re always up front and clear about options and what the procedures will be. Highly recommend this office and dentist.

Finally! A dentist who thinks outside the box! Saw Dr Mastin for a second opinion regarding a root canal/bridge recommendation from another dentist and I was pleased to be seen by an experienced, mature, wise, and communicative dentist who came to a completely different recommendation for my issue. Thankful!
