“I'm in love with my hair! I waited over a week after getting my hair done to write this review so that my new hair cut and color could really sink in and so that I would have time to wash it and style it myself. For the past about 5 years, I've had very long, black, box dyed hair. Sometimes it looked great - when I put in the effort to curl it. But most of the time I just looked like a witch and I've been ready for a change for a long time. I went into a local salon a couple weeks ago to get a quote on my hair, to get it lightened and dyed all one color. They told me that's not really possible and what they'd do instead is give me all over highlights...... That didn't sound right to me, so I looked elsewhere to get what I knew was possible. Michelle was recommended on our local RSM Facebook page so I reached out and she told me to come into her salon for an in person consultation and quote. I really appreciated that she asked me to come in so she could really assess the state of my hair and let me know what the process would be. She also took a few strands of hair to test what bleach would do to my hair since I was using boxed dye and that can have a bad reaction with the bleach and turn the hair to mush (which is what happened to my hair when she tested it!!). I think Michelle knew that my hair would be a tough case, so she blocked off a Saturday for me and I came in to start the very long process of getting that boxed color out of my hair. It took over 5 hours, and 3 or 4 treatments just to get the color out of my hair. She made sure to use gentle products so that it didn't fry my hair and got my hair to a sufficiently lightened starting point to then add color back in. She cut off probably 8 inches of hair, gave me a very cute layered cut with side swept bangs (what I asked for - slight throwback to the 90s), added a shadow root (darker root), and a fun reddish brown to the rest (I honestly don't know what color she would call the brown, I'm very uneducated when it comes to hair color, so reddish brown is the best I could come up with). The color came out GREAT!! I love it and I've gotten compliments from friends, family, and strangers! Because my hair was unpredictable, Michelle had to figure out on the fly what was going to work for me. She took my skin tone into account (I have yellowish undertones), which I really appreciated because like I said, I know nothing about hair color. The haircut I had to get used to. I was so used to looking at myself with super long hair that the short hair was a shock at first. After a couple of days I realized that the haircut was so much more ME. I can even air dry it right out of the shower and it looks cute. I think I'm going to keep it this length for a long time. It's so bouncy and my natural waves come out. Thank you Michelle for taking the time to save my hair and giving me back ME :)“
