I cannot say enough good things about this veterinary clinic. The veterinarian, nurses, and entire staff are incredibly sweet, kind, and genuinely caring. During a very scary time, they treated my cat with such gentleness and compassion, truly going above and beyond to help her. Because of them, she is feeling better today—and they truly saved her life.
Every single person made a difference, from the vet to the nurses to the front desk staff. It means so much to have a team that listens, explains, and is willing to go the extra mile with patience and heart. You can tell they genuinely care about the animals and the people who love them. I am endlessly grateful for their dedication, compassion, and skill, and I would trust them again without hesitation.

I took my cat on a Sunday evening because he hadn’t pooped in 3 days. The initial office visit fee is very reasonable especially on a Sunday evening. Dr.O and his entire staff were extremely professional and knowledgeable. After doing a thorough exam and x ray they Dx the problem and prescribed some medication and I was on my way. My wait time was less than 5 mins before being seated in the exam room. Dr.O provided top notch care. The whole experience was unbelievably easy. I recommend this Office to anyone who’s looking for fantastic Care for your animal.

Scheduled this visit specifically for a rabies vaccine (second round) for my newly adopted dog and paid the required $25 deposit.
The front desk was kind, but the visit went downhill from there. The vet had minimal interaction with my dog and charged $35 for a “new patient exam” that consisted of a brief gum and fur check — no ears or full physical exam.
Instead of receiving the rabies vaccine, I left with a $600+ upsell estimate for flea prevention (no fleas), bloodwork, stool testing, and microchipping — and the estimate didn’t even include the rabies vaccine I came in for.
This felt more like sales than care. Pet owners, proceed with caution.

I took my cat, Dixie, in because she was leaping and could barely walk in September. We saw Dr Zanetti who told me there was no sign of a fracture and it was possibly a sprain or arthritis. Dixie went home with pain meds. On November 16th, we had to see Dr Zanetti again because Dixie wasn't eating and was having trouble using the litter box. She was diagnosed with severe constipation, received an enema and sent home with a laxative and antibiotics. On December 13th, we had to take Dixie to the emergency vet because she was very weak and still wasn't eating much. The ER vet diagnosed her with fatty liver disease and even worse, said Dixie's pelvis and hip were basically disintegrated most likely from cancer. I was told this was visible on the xrays done at Hawthorne Quality Pet Care in November. How could a ver miss something so obvious to me, a lay person with no medical training? I spent over $1800 on these 2 visits and another $3500 @ the ER vet. More important than the money, I watched Dixie suffer unnecessarily because of Dr Zanetti.

I've been going here (previously known as Hawthorne Dog and Cat Hospital) since 2021/2022. Always happy with Dr. Freyts. He's unfortunately no longer working here and the ownership/management has changed for the worse.
I called to schedule a heartworm test, flu shot, and Bordetella shot. When I got checked in, I reiterated what I needed to the technician. I then met Dr. Zanetti. He was pushy to have a mass removed that Dr. Freyts had previously tested and determined to be benign. He then was unable to find the testing that had been previously done on another bump. Throughout the entire appointment he was dismissive of my comments and he just seemed to want to push for more testing and operations.
At the end, I agreed on a urine/health exam and reiterated that I needed a heartworm test, flu shot, and Bordetella shot. The technician comes out with a list of services that has a different vaccination I did NOT ask for. AND it was also missing the flu shot and the heartworm test I asked for. I correct her. At this point I am very frustrated.
While my dog is with the technicians, his nail gets caught on the muzzle they place on him and completely rips out. Technician 1 comes out, explains to me the situation, says they'll wrap his paw up, and that I need to come back in a few days for them to remove the wrap. I say okay. Minutes later Technician 2 brings my dog out, tells me I can remove the wrap tonight. I say that Tech 1 told me I needed to bring my dog back for them to do that? Tech 2 tells me no, that I can remove it myself. The receptionist then steps in and tells Tech 2 to go check with Tech 1. Tech 2 goes back, then returns to confirm to me that I need to bring my dog back for them to remove it. At this point, this is easily the worst experience I've ever had at a vet.
The next day, I start to notice blood in my dog's urine. I take my dog to a different vet to get checked. It turns out that my dog is likely bleeding due to the usage of a catheter at HQPT. Additionally, my dog tests positive for E. coli.
Over the next few days HQPT contacts me 4 different times (phone/email/text) to offer more testing and exams. And none of those times do they care to mention the heartworm test results. Only attempts to get more out of me as a customer.
I've used 5-6 different veterinarians across 2 states in the 12 years I've had my dog. The experience with Dr. Zanetti at HQPT was easily the worst. I will never return here.

This place is poorly operated by the nastiest, most unhelpful and egregiously incompetent staff. The front desk worker who answers the phone is the worst of the worst; rude, foul-attitude having female. If she doesn't want to work then she should stay home! Very rude, very nasty and lacks an ounce of customer service skills.
You will be nickel and dimed. There is no attention to care or addressing your concerns. Just coming up with ways to make you pay.
Again, save your time and go across the street to Lawndale Pet Hospital.

I had a contrary experience I took my dog for a vaccine for his skin allergy he was seen for a very kind vet and gave me all the options and that day my dog came out very well and for 3 months he did not present any allergy symptoms this was 5-12-2025 but when I went again they gave him according to them the same vaccine but in this case it did not work that was 8-17-2025 and when I when to complain the manager responded was that their medication sometimes do not have the same results and he wanted to charge me again and they did not care about my dog condition so I deducted that this vet perhaps uses expired medications in my opinion so take care of your pets.good luck.

So glad to have found Hawthorne Quality Pet Care when I moved to the South Bay. Everyone that works there is so nice, helpful, and most importantly knowledgeable in the care of my cat. Highly recommend!!
