I was honestly shocked by the cost of a very routine visit here. After insurance, we were still charged $345 per child for a simple ear infection appointment. For two kids, that came out to $690 out of pocket.
This wasn’t a complicated visit, no special testing, just a standard pediatric diagnosis and treatment. Being charged that amount after insurance feels excessive and out of touch with what most families can reasonably afford.
When I asked about pricing, there was no flexibility or alternative options discussed. At these rates, it’s hard to justify coming here for common childhood illnesses.

We love scripps coastal med encinitas. Our son has been coming here for almost two years now and everytime, its smooth sailing for us. The ladies up front are incredible! I had some last minute concerns about my son and needed some help seeing a Dr. Same day. Estella made that happen for me! She went above and beyond to schedule me with a Dr. To ask the questions I needed and I left feeling 1000 times better! My checkout with Cal is always a great experience. She is also always sweet and professional on our way out! Thank you front desk ? for making your patients a priority!
I went to the Scripps Lab for a blood draw at this location on North El Camino Real. Alvin performed the blood draw for me. He did such a fine job. No pain at all. He was very engaging and we had a great conversation. It is so wonderful to work with individuals such as Alvin that are great at their work and are so pleasant to interact with.
