I have to caveat this review as my boyfriend was the one who worked directly with the surgical vet specialty surgery center, but they went above and beyond explaining everything to my boyfriend about our dogs, torn Crusius injury needing surgery. The vet was very responsible and wanted to make sure we followed up with a neurologist for our golden retriever Roman prior to the surgery to make sure there was nothing else wrong with him, which is something, very thorough to do. Our Beagle, Scout, had to have surgery to have his left anal gland removed in January. All went very well because of the staff and Dr. Hutcheson. The doctor met with us and reviewed the procedure and all of the pros and cons. We decided to proceed with the surgery. Scout stayed overnight with 24-hour recovery care and we picked him up the next afternoon. Two weeks later, Scout was given a clean bill of health. My sweet, little, 4.5 lb Yorkie had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Her spleen, left kidney, and small intestines were up in her lung cavity. She had to have surgery and this would be a major surgery. I was so frightened for her, especially being so little. The nursing staff, techs, and doctors were so compassionate and explained everything in enough detail to put my mind at ease, knowing they knew what they were doing. They took their time with us too which was unexpected and comforting.
