They are a fraudulent clinic. They tricked someone who doesn't have good English. They did tell me on the phone that their clinic doesn't accept my insurance company, but they didn't clearly inform me that I might have to pay for the expenses not covered by the insurance. I might have to pay the full amount left. A regular teeth cleaning and fluoride application costs 498? An ordinary family doesn't have that much money to spend on such an expensive bill. The problem is that this bill was generated under deception. It's just a trap. Because my English is not good, I have no place to appeal and will have to pay this bill. So I can do nothing. When I went back to the clinic, they even threatened that if I refused to pay this bill, they would report to the credit company and lower my credit score. It's terrifying. I just want to tell everyone. Don't be deceived and lured to their clinic like me because of language barriers.

They are a fraudulent clinic. They tricked someone who doesn't have good English. I took my child to this clinic in January. When I called them, they did tell me that their clinic doesn't accept my insurance company. But the person at the front desk added that they would call my insurance company for insurance coverage. I kept asking how much I would have to pay in the end, and they told me I only needed to pay 100 dollars, without telling me that if the insurance company didn't cover the full amount, I would have to pay the rest. They tricked me into taking my child for a teeth cleaning. A regular teeth cleaning costs 498 dollars. After I paid 100 dollars, the insurance company paid 65 dollars, and I still have to pay 333 dollars. I pay over 120 dollars a month for dental insurance, and if I had known that they didn't accept my insurance and I would have to pay so much, I wouldn't have taken my child to this clinic that doesn't accept insurance for a regular teeth cleaning and end up with such an expensive bill. I'm just an ordinary family and don't have much money to spend on such an expensive bill. The problem is that this bill was generated under deception. It's a trap. Because my English is not good and I have nowhere to appeal, I will have to pay this bill. I called the insurance company. They said they couldn't help me because the clinic doesn't accept their insurance, so they only paid 65 dollars for me. I called the Arkansas State Dental Association. They said they only handle bill collection and don't accept complaints. So I can do nothing. If I go back to the clinic, they threaten to report to the credit company and lower my credit score if I refuse to pay this bill. It's terrifying. I just want to tell everyone not to be tricked like me because of language barriers into going to their clinic.

Dr Scallion and her entire team are the most compassionate and professional dentist office I have had the pleasure of going to (and I’ve been to many). Billing is clearly explained and you are given the information you need to handle planning out your dental work as your budget will allow. Dr Scallion listens and has the skill of minimizing pain during your procedure and she does not shame you or make you feel stupid. You can tell she has a great working relationship with her hygienists which makes any procedure go smoothly. I highly recommend this dentist.

Where do I even begin? Once this office realizes you have premium insurance, the customer service suddenly becomes overly eager—but not in a good way. You’re told you “need” multiple additional services that were never mentioned upfront. What was supposed to be a routine cleaning turned into unexpected charges for procedures that were neither necessary nor covered under the initial dental plan.
On top of that, the billing practices are extremely aggressive. I received repeated calls pushing for payments and additional appointments, even being contacted about an “annual exam” just 30 days after my last visit. That level of persistence feels excessive and unprofessional.
The actual care experience was just as concerning. During the exam, my gums were poked excessively, causing unnecessary discomfort and bleeding. THIS NEVER HAPPENED!! Even worse, the tools used appeared worn and outdated, which raised serious hygiene concerns. That is completely unacceptable in a healthcare setting.
I chose this office based on strong referrals, expecting quality care and professionalism. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. Between questionable treatment recommendations, surprise billing, and poor patient care standards, I cannot recommend this practice.

You will not find a better dentist than Dr. Austin. I moved 2 hours away and have tried to find someone that compares and it is impossible..I drive two hours to come here. His office staff are also top notch. You are in good hands when you come here..

I called Austin Family Dentistry on Cantrell 1 year ago to speak with my root canal doctor regarding ongoing pain from one of my fillings. Instead of connecting me, the staff informed me that I was “not able to please Dr. Scallion” and that she would no longer accept me as a patient. This is the first time I’ve ever experienced a dentist refusing to see me.

My only concern was the persistent pain from a filling, which I believe I had the right to discuss directly with my doctor. I had been wondering why my calls were going unanswered for so long — now I know. They have already been paid for the work, and I even referred others to this office in the past, which makes this treatment even more concerning.

    Update 8 11 2025

As of now, my filling is still in pain, and it has not gone away.
