Today I had my first house call with Dr. Dumas and her team from HEAL Veterinary. I chose them because they also have a full service clinic for things that can't be done in my home. But I wanted a vet who would come to me for the routine things. I have two VERY nervous cats, who were adopted as feral cats from the streets. Typically the only people they will allow to pet them are me and my long time cat sitter. My girl cat in particular is very skittish, and I still can't pick her up after having her for 5 years. My cat was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia from my local vet, she told me it would be best to get the surgery done as soon as possible . The same day I called around to find a vet in Brooklyn to see if they do the surgery , it was a little difficult but I did find one . When it came time to make the appointment for the surgery the vet I was going to go to was on maternity leave . I was devastated because I wanted to keep my cat Astro as close to home for emergency purposes as this surgery is super intense and invasive .
