The staff here are very welcoming and wonderful, especially the ones at the front desk. From the first visit to now my third, I have always had a warm and very friendly welcome accompanied with some smiles. The wait is next to nothing which I love (probably less than a minute for each visit which is ridiculously fast!) I have been here twice this month because I wanted some peace of mind with regards to not having children. I am not so great with pills and I have been noticing some strange side-effects which I will spare you the details of but I decided to make a 10-year commitment and get an IUD. Paragard, speficially. I talked to my Ob-gyn and he said he doesn't install them but did offer me guidance as to which one I should choose, the risks and benefits, and recommended a colleague of his to perform the procedure. He gave me pamphlets to educate myself with regarding the option I decided to go with but was never pushy about which one I should choose. Today was my appointment with Dr. Thormure and he had with him a resident and a medical student who was only observing the whole time. The resident performed the procedure under the close supervision and assistance of Dr. Thormure. I have never met him before today but he was very friendly as well and did not make me feel uncomfortable. He wanted to make sure that I know the risks about the procedure and that I really wanted the paragard over mirena. In the end, I went with my original plan because the problems that it can cause (spotting, cramps and heavy menstrual periods) still did not outweigh the fact that I didn't want any hormones in my body and that 10 years is a long time to never think about having this procedure done again. Overall, the procedure was not pleasant and I didn't expect it to be. I was dreading this day since I made the appointment but they were very nice about the whole thing. He made sure I was able to stand up without fainting before he left the exam room which was great! Again, another excellent experience from this office. The checkout process went smoothy as well and I got myself scheduled in for my follow-up visit after 1 month.

My first child, a daughter, is due on 3/1/14. Naturally, I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to my baby and I always have a ton of questions. My ob, Dr. Ward, is amazing. He is patient, kind, funny, and knowledgeable. His nurse, Erika, is a great asset to the practice as well. I was a little dubious coming here because it's the only practice in my insurance plan and I wasn't so happy not having other choices (I am a SLU law student), but I really couldn't be happier. I also have never had to wait to see Dr. Ward, which (as everyone knows) is a rarity in the medical field - seriously, I haven't even waited a full five minutes before being seen! SLUCare does allow medical students to observe or assist during appointments. However, they ask you if it's okay first, so you can always say no. Because my husband is finishing up medical school himself, I don't mind helping out students who are in his shoes.
