The Elms was the perfect spot for a weekend family getaway! Affordable and charming, it’s truly a hidden gem. With the greatest spa I’ve ever visited, three pools, a gym, great food, pleasant outdoor walks, a coffee bar, and a relaxed bar, we didn’t even feel the need to leave the property. Each member of staff was positively delightful and added to the stay immeasurably. I loved it so much I purchased a gift certificate for my boss before I left so she can come and enjoy The Elms, too! The only downside was a 3am fire alarm requiring an evacuation of the hotel, but not much you can do about that. It's a beautiful historic building in my hometown. That said, there were issues. The 3 Owls restaurant at the hotel git our orders wrong almost daily. We had to ask every evening for the breakfast room service form for the following day. The indoor pool is NOT handicap accessible, though the outdoor pool kinda is. The heater/AC units in the rooms are robust, but noisy, took us a couple of nights to get used to it. Not to mention that you hear everything and everyone at all hours. There is only ONE elevator and it's very very small. Hotel guests have to make reservations to eat at the 3 Owls restaurant, mainly because it and it's bar are open to the public.... read full review
