Alvin Gates is a master at photography. I remember having my high school graduation photos taken when he had his studio on 79th and State. I was 17 years old and had gone there alone. He had a stylist/make up artist do my makeup, hair and nails. When he began taking the pictures he started saying things like "****** turn this way and called me a whore. I don't know why he felt he could do that to me. No doubt he sensed that my self esteem was already low. I didn't tell my mother. When I rode past Roosevelt Rd. It brought it all back. So sad for an adult to do that to a young teen.
