The first time that I met Doctor Mendhi, I thought cool, he's like my doctor back home, until couple days ago, he left me a voicemail after me contacting the office, and i wasn't very happy with the response I got from him, it just set wrong with me! I may give him another chance, haven't decided yet!
First, let me say we started with Family Care Partners 35 years ago in the Arlington Office. Fourteen years ago we moved closer to the Fleming Island Office so started going there. We have always been happy with the doctors and especially the physican assistants. After Innovacare Health bought them out, we started having problems making appointments, speaking to a knowledgeable person, etc. On Christmas Day my 85 year old husband tested positive for Covid using a home test. The next day, I called FCP three times requesting them to send a prescription for Paxlovid to our pharmacy or if that wasn't possible to contact us about an alternative. I called again on Wednesday with no response. Each time they said they would send a note to Dr. Afshar but we never heard anything and no prescription was sent. Fortunately, it was a mild case so we did not pursue it any further. Today (January 4th,) I called to ask who I could send a complaint to but they could not give me an email address nor put me through to the Fleming Island Office. We finally did receive a call today saying they wanted to set up a teleconference on January 9 about Paxlovid. By this time my husband had recovered and Paxlovid is suppose to be given within five days anyway -it had been 10 days. I find it very disappointing they either the doctor did not receive the notes or ignored them. Customer Care at its worse.
I've been a patient here for over ten years. First off, the medical care is and has always been very good. Currently Jennifer Anderson, previously Allison and Dr. Wonpat originally. The phone system/central office on the other hand is a complete travesty. It's beyond poor service. I recently changed insurance carriers, the new insurance tells me they called four times on Wednesday to provide proof of coverage before an appointment. They never spoke to a human or got a call back. Normally I would be hesitant to believe an insurance company but prior experience with Family Care phone maze tells me this is normal. So I end up paying out of pocket and will have to file for reimbursement. Not the end of the world by any means, but this on top of never being able to schedule appointments, spending weeks in a he said she said battle between pharmacy and the phone hell of Family Care over a prescription refill prompted me to leave a review. After reading much of the same it unfortunately appears that whoever is in charge does not and will not be caring one bit about improving this black hole of non service. We are very busy is not an excuse. It should be celebrated by management that they are busy enough to have a need to hire more and better qualified people to manage your phone system, which is after all the first impression most people have of you.
