“I've been seeing Kim for my facials for many years now, including before she and Michelle opened up Retreat. From the very first treatment, my experience was beyond positive. And different from facials I'd had previously. Kim is not only highly knowledgeable and skilled in all things related to skin care, she is also caring, intuitive and generous. I found myself looking forward to getting a facial the same way I'd look forward to getting a massage (ok, maybe not so much the extractions, but everything else!) It wasn't just my face that felt nurtured and cared for, and when I learned that Kim also did Reiki, I understood why. Kim is a healer. I also started going to her for reiki sessions when I needed help with a grieving process, stress and overwhelm, or just to get grounded and gain more clarity about my life. “Last week, I went to my first facial with Thy (like “tea”) and WOW! I am so impressed! Five days later, and I still find myself touching my face and being shocked by how smooth and healthy my skin feels.I discovered Unfiltered Beauty while chatting with friends; one of them used to own a spa and the other is very particular about his skin - so they have high standards for estheticians.I was nervous about trying a new spot, but Thy put me at ease as soon as I walked in. She is friendly and approachable and kind—but also incredibly professional. As soon as she starts talking about skincare, you know she is a master at what she does.Thy gave me a custom facial, and explained why she chose each component that she did throughout the process. She has a variety of cool, high-tech tools, but the essence of the facial was in her deep knowledge and soothing, nurturing craft. I was (pleasantly!) surprised that the soothing 75 minutes included so many pieces; Thy maintains a smooth, consistent rhythm that ties it all together and allows you to truly relax. I am a convert, and I’ll be going back as soon as my skin starts to get dry and dull again!“

“Lisa gives wonderful facials that are hyper-personalized for your skin condition and needs. Every time I leave my skin is less red and glows. The massage portion of the facial is heaven. She's excellent at record keeping, noting which products and services she uses for each session, which she then references when deciding on what to use for your next facial. Oil & Water carries high end, natural products which Lisa thoroughly researches. I appreciate that she's very picky about only using top notch ingredients. “Rikki and Linda are both wonderful and extremely knowledgeable about skincare. I have hormonal comedogenic (non inflammatory) acne and rosacea. Although I regularly see dermatologists, Linda was the first person to tell me that I had rosacea and walk me through treatment / topical options to help manage it. Lately I have been going to Rikki who has done a great job managing my skin sensitivity while also helping to reduce clogged pores. My skin feels so much better!“
“Elanita Korian made me feel perhaps the best I’ve ever felt, in one of the worst weeks of my life. I contacted her the week I came down with Bell’s Palsy (partial facial paralysis) after my doctor said acupuncture might help. I was a mess—scared and unsure of what was going on with my body. After a quick phone consultation, Elanita fit me into her busy schedule, and I’m so grateful that she did.Elanita did acupuncture on my face, hands, and feet, LED light therapy on my face, and light cupping on my face, as well as using essential oils. I’d never had acupuncture before seeing Elanita, so I had no idea what to expect, but afterward, I felt lighter. I felt like I was floating and like a burden had been lifted. I felt really cared for at a moment when I needed someone to care for me. Her demeanor is calming, and I felt like she was really listening to me. Elanita followed up by recommending an iron and herb supplement for energy—I’ve been taking it and I think it’s helpful—and she immediately sent notes about me to a different acupuncturist I planned to see who takes my insurance. Her practice is conveniently located downtown, right by Muni and BART, and the space is lovely.I’d had nothing to compare my visit to at the time, but now I’ve been to a couple of acupuncturists who take my insurance, and there’s just no comparison. Other acupuncturists I’ve seen are just people sticking needles in my face and body, which might or might not help, but seeing Elanita was transformative. I’m planning to go back to Elanita and splurge on paying out of pocket because I’ve never felt so good in my life.“

“It's been about three weeks since I had my first microneedling done and I am so pleased with the results. Jennifer walked me through the process and it went smoothly. My hyperpigmentation has really improved and I'm so pleased with the results. We also talked about all the products I use on my fact - I use everything from prescription Retin A to Oil of Olay and Jennifer explained the best way to use all my products . There was no product shaming like I've had at other places about what I use, nor was there any hard selling of the products that she offers for sale. I just turned 64 and I'm not ready for plastic surgery - I just want my skin to look as good as it can without going under the knife, and I'll be able to accomplish that with help from Jennifer and the rest of her staff. I highly recommend this place.“
