This was my second job out of college, starting in 20Jun1999 to 02Jul2002. I was warned when I started that I would think I came to COG to work for, not with children. Mark Krailo, USC biostatistician and Judith Everett, Study Development Office, had the former sexually harass me and the latter retaliate and wrongfully terminated me. It would be clear decades later, the foundation failed to provide me basic healthcare through CoBra. When the funds are federally funded, the fiscal manager is to be a separate entity. The waste of taxpayer dollar by the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and then HR director Lea Bermudez, failed on so many levels. Now, fiscally managed by the Public Health Institute, basic employment law like having access to your employee file is violated with my record of employment gone. It would document HIPAA and PHI (pun intended) violations. It was traumatic to be written up the minute I started in the SDO, for 14 months, it took her that long to write me up, while she turned an exempt position nonexempt with emails to her as my time clock. I have worked outside the operations office at COG sites like UCSF, City of Hope, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles and know Judith lied when she said if a prospective employer calls, all they do is verify dates of employment and title. If that were the case, there wouldn't be defamation from Kaiser Permanente, another COG site that made me feel schadenfreude at an interview where personal protected health information was used to shade me. Staying in the industry long enough to see the few degrees of separation between clinical research entities, it's no surprise a pharmaceutical sponsor interviews me and says in 2020, "impressive resume, tell me about COG." Ready to tell folks how I really feel about COG and the waste of taxpayer money at biannual group meetings where in lymphoma disease committee steering group as a Protocol Coordinator, under Everett's harassment, I hear a doctor say to another, "this is where the science goes out the window and the doctor with the loudest voice wins"
